Gino held a special event along with WeFiFo the other day and it was FANTASTICO!
Many of the other community members of ‘Love Pop Ups – London’ have had the pleasure to attend many of WeFiFo’s various supperclubs in the past courtesy of me and them (read their blogs/vlogs via clicking here) but this time it was my turn. I paid for my experience though as when I saw Gino’s special event being advertised I immediately wanted to secure my spot as I am a massive fan of Gino D’Acampo. However regardless of that any WeFiFo supperclub event is worth every penny as they are all so unique and special.
Gino D’Acampo

‘Surprise MY Wife’ past TV moment
I have had the pleasure of meeting Gino a number of times in the past with my favourite moment being back over seven years ago when he came to my house to surprise me. It was for ITV’s ‘This Morning’ segment ‘Surprise Your Wife’.
My husband Jason though had the pleasure of learning and cooking with him all day long unbeknown to me at the time. So I came home like normal and to my surprise there was a camera crew and my husband came out with a delicious romantic fish supper they said it was to do with a new cookery programme in men of the house learning to cook. Then later when it came to dessert time Gino D’Acampo came walking through the living room doors with a pavlova but forget the dessert as Gino was all I wanted for my sweet treat that night from then on. I was in love. To see the full video of when I appeared on ‘Surprise Your Wife’ click here.
Anyway my point is that I have not seen him much since after that time maybe the last time was over five years back at a cookery show. I asked him if he remembers me and he said “how can I forget a face like yours” now if that is meant to be in a good way or not who knows?
WeFiFo – Gino D’ACampo
Now onto the WeFiFo’s special Gino’s supperclub night which was held at one of his newest restaurants in Camden called ‘My Restaurant‘. I was excited as this would be my first visit to his newer restaurant and most certainly not my last. It felt more like a restaurant unlike the one in Euston as you don’t have the conductor of the station keep on blaring out announcements so it certainly felt more like a proper Italian restaurant with a more chilled out atmosphere. Plus like all his other restaurants the walls are donned with many photos of him with his friends and celebrity friends from past and present. His restaurants all bring a real taste of Italy to the UK with them all serving delicious Italian food. All of high quality using well-sourced and seasonal ingredients this in turn showcasing Gino’s favourite recipes, serving real Italian food as it should be.
When I arrived we were led to a private area upstairs which is called ‘Gino’s Green Room’ which you can hire out. It consisted of a bar and a pool table plus three large dining tables. We was all given a glass of Prosecco and we all then sat at our dedicated seats.
Then moments later Gino walked in to greet us all. All of us ladies were all obviously swooning over him with our eyes wide open and mouths on the floor practically like love struck puppies.

Italian tapas
Firstly we are presented with a sharing board that consisted of hams, mozzarella, Parmesan cheese, olives and salami. Gino went and sat on one of the tables throughout that course. Unfortunately I was not on that lucky table so I just looked on admiring from afar and a tad jealous.
Afterwards he came around and spoke to us all briefly. Then all of us who wanted a photo with him could do so. So let’s add another to my collection. However after this quick meet and greet he had to leave as he was not feeling that well and he had an early film shooting the next morning so this was disappointing as I thought he would of spent the whole night at this event but I can understand if he was unwell.
Starters, Dinner and Dessert

Starters
After he had left the starters then came out. I had Linguine with Seafood (wild red prawn, Scottish langoustine, mussels, clams, calamari, tomato and chilli). It was delicious and the pasta was very fresh and most certainly handmade. The fish also was a decent size amount and the size of the prawns were massive and all were succulent and the calamari cooked to perfection not rubbery one bit. However I saw the Arancine balls and I just had to have some so the waiter kindly brought me over some they were lovely and crisp filled with mushroom risotto and buffalo mozzarella that just oozed out and melted in the mouth along with a sweet tomato and red pepper sauce. The balls were so big I am sure they are balls that Gino are most certainly proud off.

Mains
For my main I had the 8oz fillet steak medallions (flamed with brandy, green peppercorns and hand cut chips). The steak was lovely and was cooked to perfection to medium rare in how I like it but I think there was too much sauce used on my steak and I would of preferred to of poured on myself plus there was not enough chips provided to go around us all and I would of personally liked some mushrooms and vegetable served along with the steak. However saying this as I said earlier the steak was cooked to perfection so I do recommend.

Dessert
For dessert I had the Chocolate fondant (stuffed with chocolate truffles and vanilla ice cream ). Now this is a chocolate lovers heaven it was rich and gooey so mmmmmmm. I highly recommend if you love soft hot smooth tasting chocolate. You will be craving more especially if you area chocoholic like me.
Conclusion
So my final verdict is the food was FANTASTICO and meeting new people plus Gino was lovely but I must admit I was slightly disappointed that I was never on that lucky table in where he sat at the beginning. As they got to chat with him for quite a while. I wish he had spent the same amount of time with all but alas he did not and I felt this was a tad unfair as we had all paid the same amount of money after all. So if he holds another WeFiFo event which I hope he does I hope it will be done more fairly but I did still enjoy the night despite this.
As Gino might say
“I hope my guests enjoy it as much as I enjoyed meeting them”
and we certainly did.
