Ready to save the world again? Handmade Mysteries Operation Mindfall

Operation Mindfall is the most augmented reality outdoor hunting game to hit London turning all budding detectives saying “my name is Bond, (your name) Bond”.

Firstly let me give you top secret information about  Handmade Mysteries who provide some of the best escape rooms in London in my opinion.

Handmade Mysteries

Handmade Mysteries takes any escape room enthusiast into great live-action team adventure games which are full of mystery, colourful characters and ludicrously twisted puzzles.  With all their immersive escape rooms and street game experiences they provide fun fuelled challenges all whilst racing against the clock.

At present they have two escape rooms which can be played in several different locations across London and Brighton:

  • Lady Chasitity’s Reserve
This immersive experience challenges you and friends with an hour of hilarious clue solving as you attempt to win Chastity’s fabled aphrodisiac wine.  Click here to read our blogs/reviews when I and some others played their game a while back.
  • Poppa Plocks
This bonkers escape room full of  fun and silliness will take you back to your childhood with this 60 minute challenge by a twisted toy-maker Poppa Plock.  Click here to read our blogs/reviews when I and some others played their game a while back.

And their newest tech advanced outdoor game:

  • Operation Mindfall
Save the world from Spider Tech a terrorists organisation who wants to take over humanity

Ready to save the world again?

Me and some others of Love Pop Ups London were called upon by her Majesty’s Government , oops I mean Handmade Mysteries to help complete the mission Operation Mindfall.  It is known that there is a terrorist organisation known as Spider Tech who has developed a virus that infects the human brain, giving the terrorists full control over the victim’s mind.

We met Agent X at St James’s of Bermondsey pub which is a lively boozer with crafty drinks and tasty pies by Pie Minster.

Agent X gave us a case full of gadgets and private documents and learnt about our mission. We was shown a video, which thankfully did not self-destruct after five seconds.  This is where we learnt it was up to us to now go and defeat the terrorist group Spider Tech who has developed a virus that infects the human brain, giving the terrorists full control over the victim’s mind. It was up to us to take on this covert operative, find the antidote and Spider Tech from unleashing chaos and destruction across the globe.

The game is supposed to take 90 minutes, well that is what it says on the website but in fact it takes just over 2 hours.

We was given a smart pad which had the latest augmented reality and geolocation technology built within it taking us on the streets of London to solve and hunt down clues.

Before heading off on our mission though we had to don on a disguise so we was given some very trendy looking Hawaiian shirts.

Don’t we look the best!

On our way we got to talk to virtual avatars, solve many challenges such as safe cracking, mixing a chemical antidote, connect wires together, with so much more.

Now what?

Do we go this way?

Cracking a clue

Making the antidote.

Disposing the antidote which we made up wrongly, boom!

And some of the gadgets we could not get to grips with.

“I trust you can handle the conception” or perhaps not?

Whilst doing all this we did get some very mystified people looking at us and asking us

“What are you doing here ……….” and as we are on a secret mission we answered “No I am just looking”.

The mission took us around the streets of Bermondsey discovering cool parts of London we never knew about such as the ‘beer mile’ an area peppered with loads of craft breweries, cosy pubs, eateries and indie shops.

Handmade Mysteries Operation Mindfall meeting us break

You can also take a break half way through and maybe have a Martini “Shaken not stirred of course”.

However we are dedicated Agents so there was no time to stop as we was on a mission to stop Spider Tech taking over humanity and they were on our tale to stop us.

At one point during our mission though we had to step away from the mission briefly as their was a lady who needed help as her two dogs had got loose. It was scaring the living daylights out of her as her dogs nearly got run over several times.  You could say we really did end up being real heroes that day as not only did we stop the terrorists taking over humanity but we saved lives, lives of dogs.

The final mission was to crack into their server and disarm it.

Handmade Mysteries Operation Mindfall meeting mission ended

We kept the British end up and saved the world.

Even though we did not get all the badges as we was not super fast and failed on some of our missions we still made it no.2 on the current leader board.

Mission complete

This is the most high tech game I have ever played making it feel like we was on a real undercover mission with twists and turns around every corner. The whole mission had a fusion of top level actors, a gripping story line, digital and physical puzzles.  It really got out pulse’s raising and really did get all our hearts pumping.  The only thing I did not like about this game was carrying the heavy case.

This unique immersive outdoor experience really will make you feel like you are a real life James Bond on a mission. So if you have ever wanted to be like a spy, and hunting then you’ll love Handmade Mysteries latest game.  It combines the best elements of all their twisted escape rooms with a classic treasure hunt, as you explore some of the most interesting areas of central London.
