Rum and plenty of it – Last Nights of Havana

I had the privilege of going to a press night for this brand new pop up Last Nights of Havana which is created by the team Skylight, the inspiration is 1940-50’s pre-revolution Cuba.

It is based at Tobacco Docks which in itself is a very historic centre of rum and tobacco trade in London making it the perfect spot for such a glamorous pop-up.

Fiesta time

Upon entering through the doors I felt like I had been transferred back to the 1940’s/50’s pre-revolution Havana with the glamour, smells, Jazz all met with the spirit of pre-revolution Cuba.

All cocktails are created by Andy Mill and Elliot Ball, founders of the Cocktail Trading Company, with all their rum cocktails drinks being a contemporary take on Cuban classics.

I in particular loved the zesty very minty Mojitos and refreshing Daiquiris.

The mixologists sling and throw cocktail shakers making you feel you are in the movie Cocktail but forget Tom Cruise as these barmen are great eye candy.

Plus if you wanted to learn how to make these delicious curated cocktails you can as they hold rum masterclasses on Saturday’s for just £60.   Tickets include a rum flight and special cocktail, and a discount towards that night’s event.

The food is Cuban Street food such as toasted sandwiches which were all crunchy and delicious.

You can also purchase cigars whilst here from a cigar seller really making you feel like that you have actually been transported to Cuba.

However to me what really made this night buzzing were the Cuban style sounds which are played throughout the night by Cuban born Musical Director OresteSambroso Noda, the man behind London’s famous Sambroso Sambroso.  What a fiesta of a night.

So if you are looking for great cocktails, great music and a great vibe then I highly recommend Last Nights of Havana.

Thank you to Last Nights of Havana PR organisers for letting me and my friend Steve come down to drink and dance to the sounds of Cuba.  All views are my own honest opinion
