A look back at November 2018 – Community fun

This article is a look back at the amazing experiences which various community members of Love Pop Ups London enjoyed and helped spread the word about during November 2018.

November 2018 a look back

Made in Hackney

Made in Hackney want to teach cooks about how to cook great 100% plant based food with their seasonal, plant based programs which covers everything from basic cookery skills to sugar free baking, preserving, composting, foraging and making your own cosmetics. Perfect for vegans.

Me cooking - Made in Hackney : Life Beyond Cheese

“I would never of thought you could make a great Mac n Cheese without using real cheese but how I was proved wrong. Not only did the whole texture of this dish taste like a real Mac n Cheese but it also looked like a Mac n Cheese as well with it’s yellow colouring from the turmeric used within the dish. I honestly don’t think I would be able to tell the difference between a real cheese based Mac n Cheese to a vegan cheese based one.”

Joanne of Love Pop Ups London

I had a personal invite to learn how to make vegan cheese. Read my full blog by clicking here.

Rojak

Love Malaysian food? Then you’ll love this pop up by Rojak. Rojak brings a spice of Malaysia to London with her street style food and classics with a distinct British twist.

Rojak - food and food

“The Ox meat has a wonderful complex of flavours making this dish highly tasty and rich with the meat flaking away and melting in the mouth. The spices gave it that extra kick.”

Joanne of Love Pop Ups London

I was personally invited down to enjoy various samples of the Malaysian style cuisine they cook at Rojak. Read my blog by clicking here.

A Door in a Wall – Lights, Camera, Action

A Door In A Wall is run by a team of plotters, producers and designers. They love to create, design and run many immersive events throughout London such as treasure hunts through to murder mysteries.

This November they have done something different from their norm and have created an immersive event called Lights, Camera, Action which puts you in the spot light. So if you have ever wanted to know what it would be like to star in a movie then this new show is for all you wannabe actors/actresses.

Filming ready - A Door In A Wall - Lights Camera Action

“I found it enjoyable enough but I think it’s more intended for people with a penchant for acting rather than film making. “

Only Fools The Cushty Dining Experience

Interactive Theatre International brings to London this new immersive experience Only Fools The Cushty Dining Experience transporting audiences to The Nags Head, to meet the pride of Peckham Del in a night of wheeling, dealing and eating.

The fun starts from the moment you join Trotter and friends.

It is a cushty night with plenty of comedy, a quiz and a 3-course 80’s meal.

Only Fools

“The acting was second-to-none. Beginning with the beloved Delboy trying to give the audience one of his ultimate deals (with a not-so-surprising outcome) which set the scene for the rest of the evening as he tried to undo his bad moves. .”

Jam Shed Supper Club

The Jam Shed Supper Club popped up in South Bank for a limited time giving diners an intimate dining experience whilst looking out at spectacular views of the Thames. All meals were freshly made by different MasterChef finalists on certain nights.

This winter MasterChef finalists Stuart Archer, Natalie Coleman, Sara Danesin, Jane Devonshire and Dean Edwards will be hosting over certain periods throughout bringing their individual spin to the flavours of winter.

The Jam Shed Supper Club me

“I asked Stuart Archer which chefs inspired him and he said James Martin and Tom Kerridge. I also asked him what type of food he loves to eat and he said curry’s and that he’s best dessert the Sticky Toffee Pudding and that is why he added chai custard to it to give it a Indian infused twist which really did work well.”

I had the pleasure of having a feast cooked by Stuart Archer. Read my blog and other bloggers blogs who attended The Jam Shed Supper Club back in August by clicking here.

Archery Fit

If you want to get fit but in a fun way then Archery Fit is certainly a great way to go.

Archery Fit is an indoor archery club in London, Greenwich which you can learn archery but at the same time improve on your lats, triceps, quadriceps, traps, obliques, rhomboids, abs, glutes, calves and even your posture.

A small group of us of Love Pop Ups London went along in August and November where we got taught by Kristina one of their top instructors.

She is one of the first independent instructors to enter Archery Fit family and there are several reasons why. A long standing barebow archer Kristina is 2 times winner of Archery Fit championships in Pro groups (men & women together). She is also a history fan working on her postgraduate dissertation “Revival of Archery Practice in the 18th Century Britain”, making her her the smartest person on archery history in the club.

The question is will you be the next Green Arrow, Daryl Dixon or even Robin Hood?

“Our instructor Kristina was very knowledgeable and helpful and made the experience lots of fun. They had many different kind of bow, which I thought was particularly interesting. We learnt a lot in a short space of time and it was very professional and safe.”

The Pirates of Hidden Spirits

The Pirates of Hidden Spirit is a new immersive cocktail experience which will transport guests, or should I say pirates, into an exciting world of mischief and theft as they steal the hidden treasure from the grasps of the U.S Government all whilst enjoying delicious cocktails on board.

For three days each week, Sir Francis Drake’s The Golden Hinde will transform into The Hidden Spirit.

The Hidden Spirit Love Pop Ups London us

“A delicious bottle of golden shimmer is pressed into my hands and I’m warned not to breathe a word of it to the Governor as it is in fact part of the fabled treasure the Governor was so insistent did not exist. The bottle contains a rum based daiquiri that quite literally tastes like liquid gold and slips down the throat far too easily but before we can finish our bottles it’s down to the living quarters in the base of the ship to get ready to set sail.”
