What would you wish for? – A Lad in Soho

Are you seeking an adult panto this festive season? Then look no further as A Lad in Soho is a diamond in the rough which should not be missed.

From the team that brought you the 2018 sell out Snow White And The Seven Poofs they are back this year with a brand new show for 2018 A Lad In Soho which is a take on Disney’s classic Aladdin.

I had the pleasure in attending the press night the other week to learn more about the actors and actresses who will be performing in this panto which can be read here

With the panto now up and running I had the pleasure in returning to Karma Sanctum courtesy of Director Simon Gross (former Big Brother 2015 contestant) to watch the panto in it’s full glory.

Karma Sanctum me on stage

Set on a mini stage within Karma Sanctum Hotel Simon Gross as the evil Lady Abanazer will be joint alongside by characters Widow Twankey, Wishey Washee, Princess Jasmine and an outrageous Genie taking theatre goers on a magical carpet ride like no other this Christmas as this is A Lad in Soho.

The stage is set within Widow Twankey’s launderette and never changes but this did not matter as with the many costume changes by all characters which are full of sequins, glitter and colour you will forget about the surroundings around.

Plus the acting and singing by all will keep you entertained throughout.

The evil Lady Abanazer is played by Simon Gross will leave you wanting him evicted from the stage as he shows his hatred for Aladdin and his eager plans to steal Princess Jasmine.  However with his showbiz flare even though you’ll be booing in panto style you’ll be laughing in stitches by his comical ways, for after all he is “Showbiz”.

Aladdin is played by Eren Arken who is new to the industry after just graduating from drama school (EDA). He is full of energy and brought to the stage much pazazz with his skimpy costumes and singing but all I could focus on was his body. Genie I wish for…..

Princess Jasmine was played by Ellie Makewell who has also recently graduated from drama school (EDA).  With her ditzy fun character she will leave audiences in stitches also in awe by her amazing singing vocals.

Wishes Washee is played by Angus Dustagheer and he gives his acting everything he has got from his soul to his balls.

The Genie, Dame & Widow Twankey was played by magician Campbell Glazier who brought his comical flare to this panto.   Campbell will be performing in Britain’s Got Talent in 2019 magic as he loves magic so be sure to watch out for him and give him a vote to make his wish’s come true.

Plus new character the Slave of the Ring Ema Unguru who also granted wishes like the Genie. She had great vocals just like Jasmine.

There was also a brief appearance from characters Dick Whittington who was trying to find her pussy as well as Peter Pan who was on the hunt for fairies.

The audience will be able to join in with a sing-a-long to feel good party anthems such from the 80s such as “I Will Survive”, “Material Girl”, “YMCA”, and “Walk like an Egyptian” throughout this panto.  You’ll leave in a feel good festive mood and time for Christmas to fly on in.

Diamond in a rough

Apart from a few technical issues as there was issues with a microphone and the sound system this adult panto is full of wonder and delight.

However don’t expect perfect acting or performing like a West End style show for you won’t get that.  As this show isn’t about acting or polished performances but it’s about everyone having fun.  So want to let your hair down and have a right laugh and a sing-a-long then this camp panto is certainly the way to do it.

With the play being bigger bolder, camper and ruder than ever before you won’t be disappointed!

To me this adult panto is certainly the perfect and only way to kick start your 2018 Christmas off with a bang.

Question is what would you wish for if you had three wishes?
