Heading into London and feeling a bit like a sheep standing on the tube I headed to clueQuest to play their newest escape room cQ ORIGENES.
I was invited down courtesy of clueQuest to write up along with some others from Love Pop Ups London community on their latest room.
Throughout my blog I will try not to give too much away but there could be some potential spoilers so be warned before reading any further.
clueQuest
clueQuest has four escape rooms. Each room has a specific theme, storyline and difficulty rating.
All rooms have duplicates so you can play in different teams and compete against each other. Each team can hold up to 5 people.
All games at clueQuest:
- PLAN52 – One of our secret locations has been compromised and we need you to find out who betrayed Mr Q and swapped sides.
- Operation BlackSheep – Infiltrate Professor BlackSheep’s command centre and destroy his mind controlling satellite.
- Revenge of the Sheep – Stop Professor BlackSheep and his evil sidekick, Kevin, by deactivating their vicious SheepMutator.
- cQ ORIGENES – Shrink your way into Mr Q’s original base and sabotage Professor BlackSheep’s plan to leak agents’ identities and classified information.
- Escape the Lost Pyramid – Find your way out of the pyramid of Nebka in UbIsoft’s virtual reality escape game, taking place in the world of Assassin’s Creed Origins.
Love Pop Ups London helps clueQuest stop Professor BlackSheep
Entering into clueQuest it was nice to see such a spacious area to wait for the remainder of my group. It is so spacious it is a great size also for that celebratory photo at the end or looser photo.
Once we all had gathered ourselves together like a herd of 12 sheep we split ourselves into two teams. It was now time for us to stop Professor BlackSheep from corrupting the mainframe.
Our mission cQ ORIGENES

Professor BlackSheep seeks to recreate the original genetical experiment that turned him into a sheep. So he has launched a cyber attack on the old mainframe in the hope of extracting the secret data, along with the genetical research he’s missing.
In order to stop the Professor from breaching the firewall though it was up to us to access Mr Q’s old base. The only way in, however, was to be shrunk down to the size of a mouse with the help of the Shrink’o’Mat.
With just 60 minutes to counteract the cyber attack and secure the mainframe before the Shrink’o’Mat’s effect wears off and things get messy the mission was on to help Mr Q stop Professor BlackSheep.
It was now time for us to stop him from extracting the top secret sensitive research from the servers by securing the firewall which is kept at Mr Q’s old base.

Firstly though we had to shrink ourselves using the Shrink’O’Matic to become a size of a mouse like Mr Q. With a push of a button here and a push of a button there we were the size of a mouse. It was now time for us to stop Professor BlackSheep.

With just 60 minutes before the shrink ray effects wear off time was ticking for us to stop Professor BlackSheep from retrieving vital secret top information from the firewall and the safety of our lives as things could end up messy otherwise.
The room is highly themed making you feel that you have actually shrunk to a size of a mouse. There are so many amazing oversized props from a champagne cork to a big floppy disc. All the puzzles are a mix of linear and non linear type puzzles but all are high tech so gone are those small fiddly padlocks and finding keys.

The best parts of this highly intense fun game for me was most certainly the beginning when we had to shrink ourselves as timing was crucial with a button press here and a button press there. Plus I loved the end game where it felt like I was a mouse trying to get through a maze to find cheese at the end of it, sorry I mean victory.
Winners take on us loosers

As mentioned earlier I went along with 12 others and we was split into two different groups.

Unfortunately the team I was within even though we managed to stop Professor BlackSheep we did not have enough time to unshrink ourselves. Luckily though Mr Q managed to add us a few more minutes onto our time so we could unshrink ourselves.

The other team won with just 5 minutes spare so thus making us the loosers of the night but never less we all had an amazing time.
Rewarded
At the end of any game teams all get a photo taken regardless if you won or failed and are each given a printed photo to keep. Plus the person who booked the game will get sent a digital photo sent via email to keep on your own mainframe.
If you are lucky enough to complete any game within 60 minutes you will be awarded with a souvenir of a fridge magnet with a photo of your celebratory team photo.
Also you’ll be given an identity agent card at the end of any mission regardless if you won or failed. Scan your card and see what happens.

Verdict
This newest game at clueQuest is definitely a lot of fun and highly immersive. The thing I loved most about this game was though it did not involve those traditional padlock challenges, all puzzles are high tech, there is a story line and that there was a mix of linear and non linear puzzles so no one ever got bored as there was plenty to do.
I know I say this a lot after playing any new escape room within London but this is definitely one of the better rooms I’ve ever played from the story right through to the highly decorated themed room!
Would you be brave enough to be shrunk to enter into the Firewall?
With any clueQuest game you won’t feel like you have been fleeced as all their games are challenging and very fun “Believe ewe me!”
