Aperol Spritz Sundial Social popped up in Shoreditch this June to celebrate 100 years with their unique pop up bar where they served Aperol Spritz and provided much fun.
I attended courtesy of Aperol Spritz on a blogger basis and enjoyed plenty of Aperol Spritz whilst splashing around in one of their Fiat-500 hot tubs, waddled in the pool, hid behind a Aperol waterfall, had fun in a cocktail shaped ball pool, danced to the musical tunes by a DJ, rode a revolving carousel bar and rode a Vespa, OK maybe not rode it as I had been drinking after all and to top it all ate plenty of birthday cake.
Aperol Spritz
An Aperol Spritz is an aperitif cocktail which consist of prosecco, Aperol and soda water.
Aperol which is an Italian aperitif was born in Padua in 1919 and created by the Barbieri brothers. The original recipe has remained unchanged since.
Aperol gives light notes of orange followed by aromas of rhubarb. The lightness continues on the palate, with a sweet offering, before developing a slight bitterness on the finish.
A great liqueur on its own.
In 2003 the Aperol brand was acquired by Campari Group. The Group positioned Aperol Spritz as the perfect drink for social occasions, increasing sales to four times the pre-acquisition levels.
Aperol Spritz recipe
Glass –
Ice cubes
Ingredients –
3 parts* Prosecco
2 parts* Aperol
Splash of soda
Method –
Combine together in a glass with ice and garnish with half a slice of orange.
*1 part = 25 ml
A great summer drink, and indeed all round year drink too.
There is also a ready to enjoy drink version of the Aperol Spritz which launched back in 2011, which contains just 8% of alcohol rather than 11%. This is to give consumers a chance to enjoy the drink at home with minimal effort, by simply adding ice and an orange slice.
Today Aperol Spritz ranks 9th on the list of the world’s bestselling cocktails in the World (Drink International 2019 – The World’s Best-Selling Classic Cocktails 2019).
Good times
Aperol Spritz social came to London to celebrate their 100 years bringing to Shoreditch a Venice inspired seaside Lido, where you could either sit back in a sun-kissed courtyard or party by having fun within their pool through to giving your best moves on the dance floor.
I sipped my way through the event on Aperol Spritz.
Firstly I enjoyed a drink of Aperol Spritz within a Fiat-500 hot tub with my best friend Steve despite the water being really dirty it was fun.
Waddled around in the pool whilst enjoying Aperol Spritz.
Hid behind a waterfall with my friend enjoying another glass of Aperol Spritz.
Had some fun within a cocktail shaped ball pool.
Danced to the musical tunes by a DJ and a live band.
Sat at a revolving carousel bar.
Rode a Vespa, OK maybe not rode it as I had been drinking after all.
Drank even more Aperol Spritz with my friend Matt, husband Jason and best friend Steve.
Plus enjoyed some birthday cake.
Several drinks later, hiccup hiccup hiccup, it was time to go.

Returning 2020
Aperol Spritz popped up with their 100 year celebration in Shoreditch from 23 May – 1 June, for their Big Birthday Social but never fear as they will be returning to London 2020 with yet another pop up.
Standard tickets costed only £10, which included two perfectly crafted Aperol Spritz drinks and some Italian pizza. Additional Aperol Spritz cost £6 per cocktail.
