Kick Up Rumpus
Upon entering Turtle Bay UK in Brixton wtih my friend Steve we knew we were going to be having a kick up rumpus (a riotous good time) and we certainly did.
With the sounds of reggae being pumped through the restaurant by the resident DJ and the cleverly divided into different styles making I felt like I had have just been transported to a Caribbean eatery, so colourful.
The waiters at the Turtle Bay UK shack were also a real delight welcoming, very happy and a pleasure to talk adding to the Caribbean vibe.
Sunshine inspired brunching
We sat next to the window in the corner. It was a very cosy spot and whilst chilling within Turtle Bay UK in Brixton listening to the sounds of reggae we could watch the hustle and bustle taking place outside.
After being handed the menu after much thought and recommendation from the friendly waiters I opted for the Big Vegan Grill Down (mushrooms, curried chickpeas, roasted tomatoes, plantain).

Whilst my friend Steve opted for the Big Kingston Grill Down (jerk bacon, beef and pork sausage, mushrooms, curried chickpeas, roasted tomatoes, grilled roti and eggs, the way you like them).

As you can see both brunch dishes looks stunning and colourful.
I am not vegan but I have to say eating my vegan brunch was a real delight and I did not miss not having any meat. Everything was fresh, cooked to perfection and very flavoursome. I particularly loved the plantain which tastes like strong banana but with a much sweeter taste and softer texture. I will certainly be looking at ordering plantain in the future.

The Bottomless Brunch is available every Saturday and Sunday for adults only. It costs £25pp which includes a choice of any brunch dish + unlimited Sunshine Bellinis for 2 hours.
The choice of brunch dishes are as follows

Party on
Turtle Bay UK say they are
“all about slowing down hanging out and feeling good and we have three big loves – rum, reggae and jerk. Sure, we do much more these days but our oh-so-good cocktails, fiery jerk and juicy tracks always remind us of the warmth, spirit and flavours of the Caribbean – in fact, they’re the very things that got us opening our first-ever restaurant. So, what are you waiting for?”
and they certainly are.
Starting a day at Turtle Bay UK was the perfect start to the day with those reggae vibes and a brunch which was full of flavour and the unlimited sunny Sunshine Bellini’s just took my mind to the up coming summer months.
I left Turtle Bay UK in a very happy happy mood.
If you are looking for that feel good vibe and great food to start of your day (or anytime) then I highly recommend visiting one of the Turtle Bay UK restaurants as this will fix you right up.
