Catch Me a fishy at Westfield White City

Love fish fast? then you will love Club Gascon newest fast food restaurant Catch Me which can be found in Westfield White City fast food hall (The Balcony).

I was invited along and I took Steve another community member of Love Pop Ups London to enjoy the seafood delights at Club Gascon newest restaurant Catch Me.

Catch Me

Michelin-starred Club Gascon opened it’s doors to their first fast food seafood restaurant Catch Me on 8 June 2019 at Westfield London in White City.

Club Gascon chef patron Pascal Aussignac and head chef Julien Carlon have created a menu with lots of variety which offers such dishes as smoked haddock mini doughnuts and mullet carpaccio using seafood from our British shores.

Catch Me

“With Catch Me, we want to showcase the best of seafood available in UK with a twist of the Provence. The concise menu uses sustainably sourced fresh fish and shellfish, prepared daily. We couldn’t be more excited to bring this Mediterranean offering to Westfield’s Balcony Court. We hope that the restaurant will become a destination for great food at accessible prices.”

Catching a quick fishy

With Londoners always being in a hurry and to have a quality restaurant pop up by Gascon within Westfield White City food hall area is a real treat as not only does it provide fresh seafood but you know that the quality will be top notch.

At Catch Me there is a raw bar as well as a kitchen which they cook fast food such as your classic fish and chips through to a lobster roll. They even had a children’s menu so there is something to please everyone’s palate. The menu changes in accordance to season but no doubt your normal classic of fish and chips will always be on the menu.

Eating at Catch Me

Upon arriving to the restaurant it was buzzing but after a quick glance over the menu I decided to stray away from the usual offering of the classic fish & chips and I decided to choose for starters smoked salmon from their raw bar followed on by my mains of salmon pasta. My friend opted for the lobster roll to start and also went for salmon pasta for his mains.

Once we ordered we was given a buzzer so this way we could go and find a table within the food hall. As it was dinner time the fast food area was bustling and there was no tables or chairs spare so we walked around for a good 15 minutes before we got lucky. Luckily also as soon as we sat down the buzzer then went off. I don’t know what we would of done though if we had not found a seat though as it was so busy.

Catch Me salmon

The smoked salmon was fresh and of good quality but I did not understand why it was wrapped in bread sticks. I would have preferred the smoked salmon on a plate maybe served with a caper style sauce.

Catch Me pasta

My main of salmon and pasta was alright. I loved the salmon which was fresh and moist which was a treat as usually when places cook salmon they usually tend to overcook but the thing that let this dish down for me was the long hard pasta which was served with it. The pasta was freshly made and did look amazing with its frilly edging but I just found it too hard and too long. I would of rather of had smaller pasta shapes like penne so I can eat the salmon and pasta at same time rather than struggling to twist the thick long fancy pasta around my fork.

Verdict

All in all the food was top quality and looked amazing plus reasonable in price but I just felt that with it being situated within a very busy food court I could not feel relaxed to enjoy my meal due to the hustle and bustle going on around me.

Catch Me

However if you are looking for a versatile offering then Catch Me is perfect for you!

If you are a foodie though and are looking for versatile offering then Catch Me would most likely be perfect for you. Try perhaps their Smoked Haddock Mini Doughnuts, or grab a mouth-watering lunch of Grilled Mackerel Piadina, or even enjoy a decadent afternoon treat of Tipsy Oysters.
