Cinnamon Bazaar brings Indian delights to Covent Garden

Ever wanted to be taken away from the hustle and bustle of London? Then step through the doors of Cinnamon Bazaar and you will feel like you have been teleported to India with it’s interiors, smells and a variety of spices of Indian food wafting around the restaurant.

On a blogger basis I and some others from the Love Pop Ups London community we were invited on a complimentary basis to enjoy the delights they have to offer hungry diners.

Cinnamon Bazaar is part of Vivek Singh Cinnamon Club.

Located in London’s vibrant Covent GardenCinnamon Bazaar is an all-day dining concept that mixes real Indian heritage with urban London. It is inspired by the marketplaces or bazaars that lie on the various trading routes that connect the empires of the Old World. 

A Bazaar was a place to buy, to sell, to exchange, to explore, to learn, to share, to entertain and be entertained.

Cinnamon Bazaar aims to draw inspiration from the colours, the sounds, the smells, the bustle and energy of these bazaars that have for centuries been changing our tastes, by exposing us to new tastes, new things, new ideas all the time.

The cross cultural dining experience embraces the democratic spirit of a bazaar, making it a real cultural melting pot – the perfect place to eat, drink, relax and celebrate. Serving breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea and dinner, it’s a place where guests can come at any time of the day or night whether it’s a feast with family or a friendly chat over a chai.

Delights of India within Covent Garden

Cinnamon Bazaar is a lovely smallish restaurant which is situated within the heart of Covent Garden.

Whenever I have always passed the restaurant it always seems to be buzzing with happy diners. So I could not wait to try out their culinary delights on the night I was invited along.

Transported to India

Upon entering Cinnamon Bazaar I felt like I had been transported to India with smells of Indian cuisine wafting around the place and the colourful interior.

Time to eat

Gazing over the A La Carte menu it was nice to see there was such a wide selection to choose from with all dishes seeming to cover all types of meat, plus a great selection for seafood lovers and vegetarians to choose from.

I opted for my starters the Crab Bonda Calcutta spiced crab and beetroot in chickpea batter.

This was delicious. The balls were not greasy at all and had a real crunch. The crab within side the ball was lovely and had a real hit of spiciness to it.

For my mains I opted for the Char-grilled Kentish Lamb Fillet Mint chilli korma, masala cashew nut.

The lamb was cooked to perfection with a slight pinkness and the masala cashew nut was a delight with a creamy sensation but a nice crunch to it cutting down the spiciness of the marinated lamb. Plus the beauty about this dish was that there was no bone to deal with as had been removed.

For dessert I opted for their Carrot and Ginger Toffee Pudding clove flavoured iced double cream.

It had just the right consistency of toffee sauce and the flavours of the carrot and ginger really did come through with the clove flavoured ice cream giving it a pungent, strong and sweet taste with a slight heat. Certainly unusual but lovely.

The cocktail I had to enjoy along with my food I opted for the The Last Flower SipSmith Gin, Rhubarb and vanilla bitters.

It not only just looked lovely but had a lovely sweet taste.

Verdict

After dining at Cinnamon Bazaar I now know why the restaurant is always so busy, in fact it was completely full by 8pm when we was there and that is because of the exceptional service and food.

From start to finish I felt the staff was very welcoming and helpful making it a pleasant dining experience. They were really knowledgeable about all the dishes on the menu answering any questions we had about the dishes on offer.

The food from the starters through to the desserts all came out within a good timely manner and hot in temperature. All the dishes looked, smelt and tasted great which we ate on the night.

Plus even though the restaurant was on the small side I did not feel like I was cramped up against other diners which was good.

I would highly recommend if you love Indian cuisine and are a fan of Vivek Singh as this is a real hidden gem set within London’s West End.
