PF Chang Asian Table brings a taste of Asia to London

Ever wanted to try Asian? then I highly recommend PF Chang’s Asian Table.

I had the pleasure of attending on a complimentary basis along with some other community members of Love Pop Ups London to taste the culinary delights of PF Chang’s Asian Table.

PF Chang Asian Table

PF Chang Asian Table is a popular American chain restaurant which has been serving diners for over 20 years. The restaurant has over 200 locations in the US, and also has a strong presence in Latin America and the Middle East. Back in 2017 PF Chang Asian Table decided to hop over the channel to bring their restaurant chain to Europe with their first popping up in London set within Covent Garden. They are hoping to pop up with nine further locations in the capital within three years.

Their restaurant within London has added new features including a rather grand open kitchen, in-house bakery, and an impressive cocktail bar serving tipples curated by Fluid Movement.

“London’s food scene is so diverse and creative that we thought that our new Asian Table concept was suited for the city and its style. We are offering truly original and classic dishes from all over Asia, a range that no other restaurant in London offers.”

Philip Chang, founder of P.F. Chang’s, told Business Insider

A Taste of Asia

Upon stepping within PF Chang Asian Table I was impressed by the huge space and nice romantic dim lit lighting. Set within the back there is a lovely large open kitchen letting all diners see the chefs busy at work creating amazing pan Asian food.

Upon sitting down I scanned over the menu. There is an array of dishes to choose from it was hard to decide but the colourful photos and fine details about each dish made it easier to choose. Click here to see the full menu.

After ordering from the menu a starters, main and dessert I noticed that the napkin completed an image of a dragon as one half was on the plate and other on the napkin. I have never seen a napkin and plate combined before to make up an iconic image.

Whilst waiting for my dishes to come out of the kitchen I opted for one of their many delicious looking cocktails. I chose The Rising Star. Click here for full bar menu.

The Kitchen London Hilton Tower Bridge cocktail

This cocktail contained Vodka, apricot schnapps, orange juice, lemon juice and Champagne syrup and garnished with a star fruit slice. It looked so bright making me think of the sun and summery days and tasted exceptional sweet, tangy and zesty.

To accommodate our meal we opted from the bar menu a bottle of Alamos Malbec which is a full bodied. The dark cherry and blackberry accented by subtle hints of brown spice and vanilla made this wine an excellent match with my grilled lamb.

For my starters I opted for the Crispy Green Beans which were tempura battered and served with a spicy aioli sauce.

They were coated with just the right amount of batter and not oily making every bite a delight with a crunch after crunch with a hint of moistness and softness from the bean within. The sauce also accommodated the dish well with the creamy sauce and hint of spice giving it a whole new flavour and texture when desired.

For my mains I chose the grilled lemongrass lamb chops which have been marinated for 24 hours in soy, lemongrass and sesame oil, then grilled and served with spring onions. Plus to accommodate them for my sides instead of rice or noodles I opted for the moorish looking Chinese aubergine dish which was coated in a Thai basil, ginger, spring onion, Fresno pepper dressing and topped with sesame seed powder.

The lamb chops were succulent and cooked to perfection.

The aubergines were gorgeous so juicy and the marinade was very spicy but worked well with the aubergines. I could of eaten this dish just by itself as a main.

As you can see we were all fully excited and happy with our choices.

For my finale the best part of any meal in my eyes is dessert and I opted for the white chocolate bomb which was filled with honeycomb, cocoa nibs, popping candy, chocolate soil, hazelnuts & creamy hazelnut ice cream. Then topped with toffee sauce.

I loved how when the sauce was poured over the bomb in how it melted away revealing the filling within. It was such a sweet treat from the toffee sauce to the many fillings from the crunch of the honeycomb through to the creamy hazelnut ice cream. Was bliss.

Verdict

I will definitely be returning to PF Chang Asian Table sometime in the future to enjoy their other culinary delights from their menu as everything I had tasted amazing and everyone else who joined me on the night thoroughly enjoyed their different dishes. The only criticism I have about PF Chang Asian is that not all our dishes were served to us at the same time and some of us had finished our starters before some had even received their dish. But apart from that the atmosphere within the restaurant and warm lighting makes it a pleasurable experience and the staff are welcoming and on hand when needed.
