A look back at February 2020 – Community fun

This article is a look back at the amazing experiences which I and various community members of Love Pop Ups London enjoyed and helped spread the word about during February 2020 on a gifted complimentary basis.

Choco Fruit

Choco Fruit sell a range a wide range of quality chocolate treats. They make delicious chocolate covered fruit and top them up with toppings of your choice. Whether you like milk chocolate or dark chocolate, there’s something for everyone.

They can be hired for your party or event but alternatively you can visit them to have one of their choccy fruity treats on either Friday, Saturday or Sunday from their stall which is set up within The South Bank Centre Market, London and every other Sunday at Brick Lane Sunday Up Market.

28-50 Wine Bar & Kitchen

28-50 Wine Bar & Kitchen provide diners great food, fine wine and good music all in the heart of Covent Garden.

Whether you are celebrating a special occasion, dining pre or post theatre, or just fancy a sneaky after-work glass of bubbly, the team at 28-50 is renowned for delivering exceptional service in an intimate and relaxed setting. Their exclusive wines have been thoughtfully selected and many are available by the glass. Their seasonal menu is crafted with both skill and imagination by their highly talented executive chef Julien Baris.

Throughout February and March in celebration of Fondue Festival 28-50 Wine Bar & Kitchen are giving diners a fondue experience every Tuesday.

 “The experience was so authentic – we started with glass of Viognier wine from their own (!) chateau in the French Alps and then had a delicious fondue made with Alpine speciality of local cheeses melted in white wine and kirsch.”

Casa Tua

Casa Tua brings authentic Italian to Londoners giving a homely feel. Enjoy fresh pasta, home made Italian food and traditional brunches all within a friendly environment whilst enjoying real Italian food based on the regions of South Italy.

Secret Theatre

This Winter / Spring Secret Theatre brings to London their latest production The Invitation. Step within a secret Masquerade Ball within one of London’s most opulent and historic venues The Town Hall and immerse yourself through a night full of mystery, secrets, and a tragedy. Think ‘Eyes Wide Shut’ meets ‘SE7EN’.

Big London Bake 

Ever wanted to know what it might be like to participate in The Great British BakeOff well know you can. As at The Big London Bake you can cook and compete against others without the pressure of Paul Hollywood. Each baker is provided with all the key ingredients for the ultimate baking extravaganza which lasts 90 minutes. Whisking, rolling, drizzling, customising, creating will you be crowned the winner of The Big London Bake.

Every month there is a new theme and this February it was on Aussie Animal Critters with 10% of the sales going towards Wires Wildlife Rescue to help raise funds the injured animals within Australia.

The Melusine 

This seafood restaurant provides diners the freshest fish everyday as it is all freshly caught and delivered each day. Tucking into your fish overlooking the docks you will feel like you are at the seaside even though your actually in London.

The menu changes everyday to reflect the catch of the day keeping it new and fresh.

“To end we chose a very different type of dessert of Homemade Cornish Blue Cheese Ice Cream with Cherry Coulis which was very creamy and cheesy but surprisingly very tasty.”

Castle Tooting 

Established since 1832, The Castle is a proud feature of Tooting’s bustling high street, serving an impressive array of real ale, craft beer, cocktails and more…

Enjoy a drink at their bar, compete in a legendary quiz (on Wednesday nights) or sit within their Orangery and enjoy a brunch, lunch or dinner or sit within their lovely covered outside beer garden, or even one of the Apres Ski huts or igloo which can be hired for all manor of celebrations.

Pip & Nut 

Love peanut butter then you’ll love Pip & Nut who are obsessed with making theirs tasty.

This February they held a pop up in London Shoreditch for four days called Love Lab celebrating Valentines and their love of peanut butter.

Fratellia La Bufala

Fratelli La Bufala is an Italian restaurant that brings traditional products of Campania to the heart of London. They offer buffalo mozzarella, buffalo meat and the traditional Neapolitan pizza created with ingredients of the highest quality.

“I went along to the launch of Fratelli La Bufala in Piccadilly to their new flagship restaurant and samples many of their dishes from various types of mozzarella, gnocchi, salami, risotto, pizza and buffalo burger.”

Rock & Sole Plaice

Established in 1871, Rock & Sole Plaice is the oldest and most famous fish and chips shop in London. All their fish British and is sourced and sustainable. Preparing dishes over 145 year using an old traditional recipe no wonder it is popular and the best within London. You can dine in, eat Al Fresco or takeaway.

Yeda Cafe

Yeda Cafe is a vegan cafe & takeaway which is based in Covent Garden Neal Street. They sell a range of good quality plant based dishes and drinks satisfying anyone who loves plant based food. You can either eat in or takeaway.

“The Chocolate Brownie was a chocolate delight. No egg and no beans this brownie was simply made from flour, sugar and chocolate and it was delicious. It was moist, gooey and soft making it a chocolate lovers delight.”

Funicular Cocktail Time Machine

Funicular Time Travel Corporation takes you in an travel adventure through time on a quest to experience some of the finest cocktails ever created, at the very moment, in the very place, the Mojito, Long Island Ice Tea and Espresso Martini were created.

Amanda Cotton Pottery

Amanda provides fun ceramic workshops giving a unique way to socialise with your friends / family as well as being creative. Set within her naturally lit & fully equipped London riverside studio you can make a bowl. Don’t worry though if you think you don’t have a creative bone in your body, she will boost your creative skills. You can either try your hand at the wheel, sculpt, hand-build, glaze or explore slip-casting.

“Using the wheel we sculpted our own bowl. Was such fun and I just could not stop thinking about the romantic scene of Patrick Swayce doing pottery in the classic movie Ghost.”

The House of Chimney Cakes

Within Shaftesbury Avenue The House of Chimney Cakes provide traditionally Hungarian Sweet Bread which is freshly baked and filled with ice cream. The cake is a fluffy dough on the inside and crusty on the outside.
