Mr Hugh’s Rapeseed oil is tasty, versatile and 100% British

I love cooking but when I cook I tend to stick with just using oils with no flavouring.

When I use Rapeseed Oil I tend to use Mr Hugh’s Original Rapeseed Oil as it is my favourite. However I never knew that they done other flavoured oils in which I recently discovered.

As to sample their delicious oils I was kindly gifted a batch of their flavoured oils to use at home.

Mr Hugh’s

The Mason family, have farmed in Norfolk for over 200 years, Hugh grew up in Fincham, the farm’s local village and began working at Hall Farm at the age of 20.

At the age of 22, Hugh continued the family tradition and took over the running of the farm from his father, Maurice. Their farm now consists of 5,000 acres of land within a 40 mile radius. As well as rapeseed, the farm also grows wheat and sugar beet.

They nurture their crops at every stage using a mixture of traditional and modern farming methods. With their understanding of farming, they grow only the healthiest and finest crops. Perfecting the art of farming, as well as identifying what technology can achieve for the benefit of the crop, is something they consist to strive for.

They take great pride in their business, their brand and their products. They do their very best to ensure that they farm in a responsible and sustainable way, in order to safe guard the future of their home and business.

They sell an extensive range of Rapeseed Oil that’s not just tasty but versatile and traditionally British.

All of their oils are high in Vitamin E and Omega 3, 6 and 9, and with less saturated fat than many popular culinary oil, resulting in a tasty oil which is healthier for the heart.

Cooking at home

Mr Hughs

I was sent a gift set of Rapeseed oil which consisted of Basil, Garlic, Lemon and Chilli flavourings.

With so many different flavoured oils and being slightly unaware of what to use them for I found it very useful to see a variety of recipes for them on Mr Hugh’s website.

Vanilla Infused Baking Oil

The Vanilla Rapeseed Oil is ideal for baking cakes and biscuits. So I decided to make Bread & Mr Hugh’s Chocolate Orange Pudding which was a true delight, with the melting chocolate pieces which oozed through the pudding and was ever so creamy.

Basil Infused Rapeseed Oil

With the Basil Rapeseed Oil I made their Salmon with Creamy Basil and Lime Sauce. It was very easy to make and very tasty with a hint of basil seeping through the sauce. However I think I needed to add more creme fraiche to my sauce as when I warmed it up it ended up looking like melted butter rather than a creamy sauce.

Chilli Infused Rapeseed Oil

With the chilli sauce I made Mr Hugh’s Spicy Garlic and Chilli Prawns. Very easy recipe, quick and tasty. I loved the zestiness from the limes and oranges and the slight heat from the chilli oil. Not too overpowering but you can add more oil within the dish if you want more of a kick.

Garlic Infused Rapeseed Oil

For the Garlic oil I made Mr Hugh’s Potatoes Au Gratin. A lovely dish very creamy, full of potato, oozing with cheese and the hint of garlic oil gives it that extra added flavour. This recipe though uses Gouda cheese which even though nice I think next time I will replace with Chedder cheese instead.

Lemon Infused Rapeseed Oil

With the lemon oil I made Lemon Oil on Avocado Sourdough Toast. It was delicious with the crunch of the toast and the creaminess and sharp tanginess of the lemon within the avocado mixture. Since using this oil I have used it time and time again for a variety of dishes within my chicken dishes, risottos and bakes. It is my favourite oil out of the range of oils I was sent and truly do highly recommend.

Verdict

Mr Hugh’s oils all of them are a true delight as they don’t just look fabulous but they all are pure British, high in Vitamin E and Omega 3, 6 & 9, plus use less saturated fat than many popular culinary oils, which is healthy for the heart.
