Laplandia award winning flavoured vodkas

I love coffee, and a great tipple. Each morning I wakeup 50% wondering if it’s too late to drink coffee, and 50% wondering if it’s too early for alcohol, especially vodka but thanks to Laplandia Espresso Vodka my solution to my life’s little dilemma has been resolved. Now I can have coffee and alcohol in one hit. Laplandia produce award winning pure premium vodka and flavoured vodkas.

Thanks to Laplandia on a courtesy basis I was given a few PR samples of their delicious award winning vodkas.

Laplandia

Laplandia is produced by Shaman Spirits Oy Ltd. The distillery and headquarters are located in Tyrnävä, Finland.

Founded 1998 Shaman Spirits began distilling. From the beginning the main vision was to be a boutique-like distillery which is known for its product quality. Today, it is the home of award winning, globally distributed brands such as Laplandia.

Laplandia are premium award winning vodka producers. To this day they have won multiple prestigious international tasting awards.

Their vodka is mainly water (60%). Their water is sourced from Lake Hirsijärvi, which is estimated to be among the cleanest on earth. The water goes through a natural purification process, from filtrating into an esker and purifying through thick sand layers that are thousands of years old. The sand in the region is an excellent natural water cleaner, because it was once washed by ice-cold glacial meltwater. The purifying process is so effective and unique it can’t be synthetically reproduced, and thus there is no need for the water to go through any post-processing or treatments before distribution. Resulting in clean soft pure water.

The remaining 40% of Laplandia is 96,3% neutral ethyl alcohol made from the highest grade wheat which is grown by family owned farms. The wheat grains are distilled 7 times in a continuous process covering the distillation, hydroselection, concentration and demethanolization columns. The concentration column also filters out the wheat’s gluten, allowing their vodkas to be certified gluten-free. Plus all their wheat is grown in a completely NON-GMO environment.

Finally the water, ethanol and flavours (when applicable) are blended together in a sterile stainless steel tank to mature for at least 4 weeks. Lastly, the vodka is then passed through controlled cartridge filters before bottling.

Love of vodka

I love vodka and now thanks to Laplandia I love it ever more as their award winning flavoured vodkas are like no other, clean and packed full of flavour.

I tried out their Super Premium, Aureus, and Espresso Vodka all of which came in beautiful bottles and the vodka within looked, smelt and tasted amazing, FIRST CLASS.

Getting creative with Laplandia Vodka

Laplandia – Super Premium Vodka

This is their Flagship Super Premium Vodka which is one of their award winning vodkas. The vodka is made from the most exceptionally softest groundwater which comes from Lake Hirsijärvi and distilled with wheat 7 times which gives a high quality vodka.

Clear, smooth and clean. Leaves a little tingly sensation on the tongue but ends with a refreshing clean aftertaste.

Ideally drank on it’s own, over ice, as a mixer or even used within food.

I got a little creative and added my pure vodka to make a simple Vodka and Venison Cream Pasta.

Vodka and Venison Cream Pasta

Ingredients (serves 4)

  • 500 pound cooked ground venison
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tbsp butter
  • 1 shallot, chopped finely
  • 1 clove garlic, chopped finely
  • 1/2 cup of vodka
  • 1/4 cup of chicken stock
  • Half can of crushed tomatoes
  • Salt and pepper
  • 1/4 cup heavy cream
  • 500g Penne Pasta
  • Parmesan Cheese, grated
  • Fresh basil

Method

  1. In a saucepan add oil, butter, shallots and garlic and saute for 3 minutes.
  2. Add vodka to pan and cook until vodka is reduced by half
  3. Add chicken stock and tomatoes. Bring to a bubble and then lower to simmer.
  4. Meanwhile fry off the venison in another pan until brown all over.
  5. Then add venison to the tomato sauce and season with salt and pepper.
  6. Add heavy cream and return to a bubble.
  7. Cook pasta according to instructions.
  8. Spoon sauce over cooked pasta
  9. Sprinkle with parmesan cheese and garnish with fresh basil.

It tasted amazing with the richness of the venison, sweetness of the tomato and punchiness of the vodka.

Laplandia also produce flavoured vodkas. Unlike other flavoured vodkas, they have made it their mission for the flavours to be the dominant note in the taste, instead of the alcohol. They use an environmentally friendly process using natural flavours in different forms from essential oils, extractives and distillates. Their flavoured vodka is packed with fruit, resulting in great colour and pure taste thus making all their flavoured vodka perfect consumed straight, or within cocktails.

I tasted two of their flavoured vodkas of Espresso and Cloudberry with each being equally as delicious.

Laplandia – Espresso Vodka

As Finland is one the worlds highest coffee consumers Laplandia just had to produce Espresso vodka. Their premium Espresso provides an explosion of coffee. Dark, rich, creamy, and loaded with coffee this drink has it all.

Perfect on it’s own, over ice, as a mixer or used within desserts.

I made an Espresso Vodka Cheesecake and Tiramisu with it which worked beautifully within both.

Espresso Vodka Cheesecake

Ingredients

  • 250g digestive biscuits
  • 100g butter, melted
  • 5 tbsps Espresso Vodka
  • 600g cream cheese
  • 100g icing sugar
  • 280ml double cream
  • Coco powder for dusting

Method

  1. Butter and line a 23cm loose-bottomed tin with baking parchment.
  2. Put 250g digestive biscuits in a plastic bag and crush to crumbs using a rolling pin.
  3. Melt 100g melted butter then add the smashed biscuits to the butter and stir until completely coated.
  4. Tip biscuit mix into the prepared tin and press firmly down into the base to create an even layer. Chill in the fridge for around 1 hour to set.
  5. To make the filling, place the soft cheese, icing sugar and Espresso Vodka in a bowl, then beat with an electric mixer until smooth.
  6. Add in the double cream and continue beating until the mixture is completely combined.
  7. Next spoon it over the biscuit base, working from the edges inwards. Smooth the top of the cheesecake down with the back of a spoon and place in fridge for around 5 hours or even better overnight.
  8. Before serving take the cheesecake out of the fridge for about 30 minutes to bring to room temperature.
  9. Dust with coco powder.

This cheesecake resulted in a creamy and delicious dessert with that hit of coffee from the Espresso Vodka. Pure indulgence.

  2. In a large bowl, whisk the egg yolks, Espresso Vodka and half the sugar together until pale.
  3. In a large glass bowl whisk the egg whites using an electric whisk, slowly adding the remaining sugar and the salt until they hold soft peeks.
  4. Gently fold in the egg whites into the yolks.
  5. Sift and fold in the flour.
  6. Fill the tins equally with the mixture and bake for 15 minutes, or until firm to the touch or skewer comes out clean.
  7. Carefully remove the cake from their tins, discard the paper and leave to cool on a wire rack.
  8. Brush sponge with 2 tbsps of Espresso Vodka.
  9. In a medium bowl, using a whisk mix a little of the cream with the mascarpone until smooth. Then add the remaining cream and remaining Espresso Vodka into the cream until slightly stiff.
  10. Place the amaretti biscuits with half the cocoa powder in a food processor and blend to make a crumb.
  11. To serve, using two small glass trifles bowls cut out several circles of sponge. Layer a piece of sponge into the trifle glass and top with half the cream mixture and top with half the amaretti cocoa crumbs. Repeat this process with as second layer of sponge, cream and crumbs. Finish with cocoa powder dusting.

This created a very adult Tiramisu which was a creamy and a coffee explosion.

Laplandia – Aureus Vodka

Their Aureus Vodka is golden and shiny like pure gold in a cup. Cloudberries are found in the northern hemisphere, and is considered the king of wild-berries amongst the northern people and is thus often referred to as Lapland’s Gold. Laplandia Aureus is the only vodka in the world made using wild cloudberries, and every litre bottle contains an whopping 210g of cloudberries.

This vodka is tart and yet sweet and results in a refreshing fruit tipple like no other. They are often made into jams, juices, tarts, and liqueurs.

Perfect drank over ice.

Really different to any other vodka out on the market and why I think that is, is because they use the purest cleanest softness water in the world all of which is blended with top quality distilled wheat and mixed with real natural flavours.

I especially loved the Espresso Vodka as it is dark, rich, creamy and gives an explosion of coffee.

Laplandia vodka to me is pure liquid gold and is my TOP new favourite.
