Tipples for Christmas

This Christmas thanks to The Bottle Club I enjoyed a few festive drinkies from a bottle of bubbly of Carluccio’s Prosecco to start off Christmas morning, some festive drinkie crackers to pull at dinner by Whitley Gin Crackers, and a delicious Limited Edition Apple Pie Gin to enjoy with my apple pie or even add into.

Tingle sensation

Starting off Christmas Day I popped open a bottle of Carluccios Valentina DOC Prosecco and combined with some orange juice to make a classic Bucks Fizz to serve alongside my plate of smoked salmon with scrambled egg as that is how to celebrate Christmas morning.

It is an extra dry prosecco but it was fantastic, it was crisp, fizzy and fruity and worked beautifully with the added orange juice.

I don’t normally like Prosecco but this one by Carluccios did not disappoint. Currently with The Bottle Club it costs just £6.90 and I would highly recommend as to me that is a bargain for such a delicious refreshing prosecco.

For my festive turkey dinner instead of pulling open a Christmas cracker with a lousy joke, and cheap toy I cracked open a Whitley Christmas Cracker which did not disappoint at all, made me smile, my tastebuds tingle, and got me merry on a high.

In all there was six colourful crackers in the set which consisted of a Pink Grapefruit, Blood Orange, Raspberry, Parma Violet, Rhubarb & Ginger and Original gin.

So if you are looking to spice up your Christmas dinner next year or even a get together dinner party then I highly recommend Whitley Neill gin crackers or buy a bottle as each of their gins were delicious, refreshing and fruity.

The Bottle Club regular price is £19.99 but at present they are selling the Whitley Crackers at £17.49.

For dessert I baked an apple pie adding a little of their special That’s The Spirt Co. limited edition Apple Pie Gin which gave it that extra spark.

The gin was lovely, refreshing and had a lovely apple flavour with a warming cinnamon tang.

Apple Pie with Gin

Ingredients
30ml Apple Pie Gin
500g brambly apples (cored, peeled, and sliced 5m)
80g caster sugar plus extra for sprinkling
2 tbsp plain flour
1/4 tsp cinnamon
Shortcrust ready made pastry
Egg

Method

  1. Peel, core and slice up the apples
  2. Mix the apples with the gin, flour, sugar and cinnamon
  3. Place apple mix in a pie dish and cover with shortcrust pastry
  4. Egg wash and sprinkle over extra sugar
  5. Bake for 40 minutes in a preheated oven on 170C fan
  6. Serve up with a glass of Apple Pie and Gin

The pie was a delight sweet and tangy with a lovely crunchy topping. Plus serving up with the Apple Pie Gin was a delight providing me with that added extra apple explosion. In fact Apple Pie Gin has become my new favourite flavoured gin, pity it’s a limited edition drink.

Regular price for a bottle will usually cost £27.99 but at present The Bottle Club are selling it at £25.99 but be quick as this is a limited edition gin.

Which takes your fancy?

Verdict

Rating: 5 out of 5.

I was very impressed by The Bottle Club from their easy to navigate and informative website through to their delivery service. All the bottles arrived in great time and packaged well so no damage to any of the bottles.

Each of the drinks I received did not disappoint and met all my expectations from the prosecco providing a nice clean, crisp and refreshing taste, the gins which provided fun as well as fruity notes and the That’s The Spirit Co Apple Gin being a truly sweet festive tipple of delight.

I would highly recommend buying any of their drinks as there is a perfect drink to suit anyone with The Bottle Club.
