Hellbent hellishly delicious meat

Do you love Irish meat and African spice? Yes? then you’ll love Hellbent who produce tasty sausages, meatballs and burgers which use meat from Ireland and are combined with seasoning from South Africa. Plus produce is all made using an old traditional African recipe giving their meat a unique taste.

On a courtesy basis I was gifted PR samples of their sausages, meatballs and burgers to try, cook and taste at home all of which tasted hellishly delicious.

Hellbent founder Schalk brings to the market boerewors. Their meat is made using a 100 year old South African recipe, using top quality Irish meat and a combination of South African flavours together. There is no added gluten and rusk. High in protein and hellishly delicious.

All of their range range of boerewors sausages, meatballs and burgers have been developed by South African Ulster rugby stars Louis Ludik and Schalk Van der Merwe.

Hellbent meat at home

Hellbent meat came delivered directly to my door and was packed very well, keeping the meat cold and intact.

Hellishly delicious

Upon taking out of the box I was impressed by the look of the meat and could not wait to start cooking the sausages, meatballs and burgers.

Starting off with the thick coiled sausages I placed in the oven as suggested for 18 minutes at 180c. After I charred for 5 minutes on my mini BBQ but this is optional if you are wanting a charred charcoal flavour. The results were amazing as these sausages were hellishly tasty and let’s say size does matter! as when I started to eat the Hellbent sausage I was hooked and wanted more and more after each meaty bite of their thick long juicy sausage. I particularly liked the unique seasoning which gave the sausage. If a thick sausage is not for your they do also sell smaller thinner coiled versions.

For the meatballs before cooking I did have to roll in my hands to reshape a little as the tight vacuum packed packaging does flatten them slightly. So after rolling I popped them into the oven at 180c for 18 minutes before adding to my tomato sauce and serving with spaghetti. The meatballs are a great size, meaty, juicy and perfectly seasoned with the South African seasoning.

The burgers are suggested to be cooked in the oven at 180c for 18 minutes but I prefer cooking my burgers in a frying pan so I fried mine in some butter on a medium heat until cooked instead. Again amazing so delicious from the Irish beef used and the South African seasoning. The burger also had the perfect thickness and roundness fitting beautifully in between my burger bap.

Verdict

Rating: 4.5 out of 5.

In all Hellbent meat is a winner for me as all of their produce provided a hell of a taste so meaty and the seasoning gave it that extra kick.

All of their meat is great and I highly recommend all but I in particular recommend their burgers for your upcoming BBQ and surprise your friends and family with the taste of a flame grilled burger which is hellishly good.

No matter what way you choose to do with Hellbent meat I can guarantee you will love their Irish beef and delicious South African seasoned meat.
