Love is in the air, but this Valentines day was a little different to other years due to restaurants being closed and cinemas. So I baked doughnuts, made jelly, milkshakes and sat down together with my husband to take on clueQuest latest Print + Cut + Escape game Mechanics of the Heart which was all about LOVE.
Thanks to clueQuest for coming to our rescue and kindly gifting us a game of LOVE making our Valentines one to remember

Love is in the air
If you’ve played any of the other Print+Cut+Escape games from clueQuest (or read any of my other blogs), Mechanics of the Heart plays out in pretty much the same style to their previous games but this time without an evil villain.
Before setting up for the night for a game of fun, a few hours before, without my husbands knowledge I was asked a few secret questions about my partner so they can be added throughout the game making it that extra romantic.
What is Love?

Mr and Mrs Q’s helpful and reliable reconnaissance droid, MM7, is starting to ask questions all robots inevitably ask, “What is Love?” and “How do you know you’re loved?”
With an array of treats at hand me and my husband sat down, logged on to the mainframe with our printed cut out pages ready to tackle puzzles and teach MM7 the man emotion, and most importantly, to know what love is.
Played in a linear manner, we took on the puzzling challenges. Like all previous Print + Cut + Escape games from clueQuest, the vast majority of the puzzles in Mechanics of the Heart heavily rely on your powers of observation, pattern recognition, logic and even some listening.
This game was a little easier than past Print + Cut + Escape games and fun with the hidden messaging making my husband curious how did they know where we first went on a date etc. However at points we did need a hint or two which then made the puzzles even easier to solve as nothing is more frustrating than being stuck on a puzzle.
Verdict
Having played many other of clueQuest home games this one I particularly loved as it was a romantic way to celebrate Valentines. I loved how I could also make this game more personal by inputting my partner’s nickname, past dates, and funny stories from our relationship.
Without giving too much away the puzzle which I really enjoyed the most was the train challenge trying to figure out who was going out with who or who was a singleton.
The only downside to this game is that even though I enjoyed it I would have loved to have seen comical videos throughout like the Halloween one.
All in all though this game was fun and can even be played individually. However it is so much more fun with two as you can add a cryptic love message which is added throughout the game.
This game is perfect for a date night.
