Out of the Box makes meal times that much easier

I love to cook as it is a great way to relax but sometimes I haven’t the time. However I hate buying pre-prepared food though as they contain so many chemicals, artificial flavourings, salt etc are used within them and to be honest none even ever taste that great either, until now. Out of the Box meals are made by passionate chef Theo Lloyd-Jones who uses the finest ingredients, no chemicals and delivers all his meals straight to your door within 24 hours of preparing, keeping it fresh.

I was gifted several meals on a courtesy basis thanks to Theo to show me that his pre-prepared meals are different and far more healthier than those which can be bought at a supermarket.

Out of the Box

2020 Out of the Box was born by Theo Lloyd-Jones with his home delivery service of delicious restaurant quality food which can be enjoyed out of a box.

2016 Theo moved from Manchester to London to work for the restaurant industry and four years later, he started to work as at trained chef for Gordon Ramsay. He has extensive experience working in some of the capital’s top restaurants ranging from The Savoy, to 3 Michelin-starred Restaurant Gordon Ramsay.

Due to the pandemic hitting the hospitality hard in 2020 Theo decided to set up his own side business bringing families and workers restaurant quality food in a box. All meals are nutritious and healthy pre-pared meals which are made from using only the highest quality and freshest ingredients and at affordable prices.

Meal time made easy

All of Theo’s meals are restaurant quality, looking impressive and great portion sizes but more importantly all have been made with wellness in mind providing a nutritious and healthy meal to your table and stomach.

Surfing Out of the Box meal plans it is easy to see which meals are designed for people looking for a low carb, high protein, gluten free or a vegan meal thanks to the handy tabs and key images.

As I love meat and fish I chose the Beef Shin Ragu Tagliatelle, Pan Roasted Cod, Chicken Katsu Curry and Lamb, Apricot & Squash Tagine. All meals are made fresh within 24 hours and can be delivered to your home or office on either Tuesday or Friday. The meals can be kept in the fridge for around 3 days or you can freeze.

Eating out of the box

Upon receiving my pre-pared meals all which come within 100% recyclable packing I was highly impressed by the look. The food was bright, great portion size and all looked exactly like the photos on the website, apart from the cod dish. All simply can be cooked within minutes in a microwave and eaten from the box, or plate up if you are looking to recreate a restaurant experience at home.

This is the 8 Hour Beef Shin Ragu, Tagliatelle, Steamed Tenderstem Broccoli with Aged Parmesan. It not only looked great but smelt and tasted amazing. The broccoli so green, pasta tender and the beef rich and melted in the mouth. Nutritional: Calories 544 / Carbs 49g / Fat 11g / Protein 51g

This is the Lamb, Apricot & Squash Tagin, Mint Jewelled Cous-Cous with Cumin Roast Carrots. A great portion and full of flavour. The lamb was tender and full of flavour and the cous cous was ever so soft. Nutritional: Calories 659 / Carbs 86g / Fat 11g / Protein 48g

This is the Chicken Katsu Curry, Courgette & Carrot Ribbon Salad with Jasmine Rice. Looking amazing this Chicken Katsu did not disappoint. The chicken was huge. Made from chicken breast it did not disappoint. The only quibble though is that for me personally the rice was a little hard and I would of liked more sauce as it seemed to all blend into the rice, none on the chicken. I think it would work better if the sauce came separately in a smaller tub to heat up and pour over the chicken, that would be a great. Nutritional: Calories 640 / Carbs 49g / Fat 17g / Protein 60g.

This is the Pan Roast Cod Fillet, Garlic & Herb Crushed New Potatoes, Lemon Dressed Greens. This dish I was a little disappointed even with as it did not look like the one shown on the Out of the Box website. Even though still a great portion size I was expecting a thick slice of cod not a thin tail end of cod. However I think the cod varies in what is used depending what is available at the time. I loved the potatoes which were tender and lemony and the zesty lemon dressing over the greens but the fish for me was a little too thin and dry. Nutritional: Calories 440 / Carbs 45g / Fat 14g / Protein 32g

I am not a fan of microwave meals I must admit as they never taste great but Out of the Box meals are nothing like those that you buy from the supermarket. As they are not packed with chemicals, loaded with salt and have not been sitting on the shelf for days and days as all of their meals are delivered in under 24 hours of making. All of which don’t just look great, but taste amazing as well. All are also super easy to cook as well, just pop into the microwave for around four minutes.

My favourite out of the meals was the Lamb Tagin as it was a great portion size and loaded with flavour. My husband loved the rich Beef Shin.

If you are a cook or not a cook and just looking for a great tasty meals which is quick and easy to have at home or for an office lunch then look no further as Out of the Box is just that. Plus their meals priced at less than £8.50 each what’s not to love.
