The Art of Banksy unauthorised private collection comes to London

Banksy to me is the modern version of Salvador Dalí with his work and even himself surrounded by mystery. Why? as his art work is a modern day surrealism with hard hitting messages which spring up literally anywhere. Plus Banksy is like a superhero as no one knows who he is! but he brings hard hitting messages and comical surreal art to our streets. Now for a limited time an unauthorised collection of private art by Banksy has popped up in London’s Covent Garden where you can view some well known favourite political surreal art pieces by Banksy and so much more.

I went on along on a PR invite and read inspirational quotes by Banksy as well as discovered pieces of art which I’ve never seen before, with some pieces of art making me question what is the meaning of life and humanity?

Banksy

Nobody knows who is Banksy, yet everybody knows he is a graffiti artist and prankster. Banksy is one of the most famous yet the most mysterious graffiti artists in the world. Some consider him a prankster whereas others a superhero of art. Banksy’s art pops up literally anywhere and everywhere with his enigmatic and surreal art from the UK to Sydney. Expressing always a strong political statement with poetry, energy and humour.

In 2010, Time magazine selected the British artist for its list of the world’s 100 most influential people.

Millions know him, and his works are on sale for millions.

The Art of Banksy

The Art of Banksy exhibition holds the world’s largest collection of privately owned Banksy art. Showcasing original and authenticated works associated with, arguably, the most intriguing and talked-about artist in modern history. On display are prints, canvasses, screen prints, sculptures, unique works and limited-edition pieces, dated between the years 1997 to 2008, the period which resulted in Banksy’s most recognisable and well-known works.

Banksy is most infamous for his outdoor art which can be found in streets all around the world but he is also known for his indoor pieces from original and unique works on canvas, wood and paper.

Banksy is the word

Banksy is an anonymous graffiti artist. He is originally from Bristol. The fact that he is anonymous means he keeps his identity hidden. He will not do media interviews, he won’t release his real name, and he will not allow photos or copies of his artwork to be made and sold.

Thanks to this popped up unauthorised exhibition of The Art of Banksy I could discover some of his work.

Walking through this exhibition I discovered not only the famous pieces of art Banksy is famous for such as Flower Thrower, Rude Copper and the most famous Girl with Balloon art work but so much more.

Did you know that when the original painting of Girl with a Balloon came up for auction it automatically shredded moments after it was sold, which was sold for nearly $1.4 million.
Can you imagine the buyers reaction!

Banksy’s art even though eye catching and surreal there is always a hard hitting message which is usually focussed on politics or humanity in how we are destroying the world.

Here are some of my favourite pieces throughout the exhibition with hard hitting messages.

Plus there was some selfie opportunities to.

Verdict

Rating: 5 out of 5.

The Art of Banksy is unlike any other artist as his art is surreal, fun but always with a powerful message to be said.

“Art should comfort the disturbed and disturb the comfortable.”
