28-50 by Night good food and jazz

28-50 by Night is a wine bar and restaurant in which you can sip on award winning wine, eat delicious European cuisine, and enjoy live jazz or blues which goes on till 2am at night.

So whether you fancy a light bite or perhaps a full a la cart meal you can be sure of a great evening at 28-50 whilst enjoying live music.

I and some other LPUL Club community members we were invited along to enjoy the delights 28050 by Night had to offer. We dined on fine food, sipped on award winning wine and listened to the sounds of jazz by Anthony Marsden of Global Acts.

28-50 by Night is the newest addition to the 28-50 family, which is situated next to their esteemed Marylebone restaurant. It delivers the same exceptional food, wine and high quality service that you’d expect from 28-50 but with the twist of live jazz every night.

Enjoy European food, award winning drinks and live music till the early hours of the morning.

1920’s vibe

Stepping down to the basement of 28-50 by night I immediately felt like I was transformed back to the 1920’s with the oak and dark velvet furnishings.

The atmosphere is buzzing with people laughing, chinks of glasses, and music being played live giving that touch of nostalgia of the 1920s.

We sat right in front and opposite the stage which was great and not as loud as what I initially thought might have been. Sitting at this table I felt like the performance played out by Anthony and his band was just for us, as it felt so intimate sitting right opposite them. Anthony’s performance was great he really has great vocals and sang a range of great classic songs, even a Christmas song as to get us all into that festive spirit. Also the band was great with so many different musical instruments being played out on stage. It is lovely to listen to a live band and real instruments rather than listening to pre-recorded music makes such a difference to the ambience and atmosphere of a venue or restaurant I feel.

28-50 by Night sell European food. They have a la carte menu plus as we are now near Christmas there are some festive set Christmas menus on available also.

The menus change seasonally in order to use the freshest produce available plus don’t forget they sell award winning wine so you might also want to pair each dish with some wine, which the waiters can help advise.

Gazing over the menu I opted for the salmon Gravlax to start and for mains Hake. As for dessert the Winter Mess.

The salmon was fresh and zesty thanks to the sauce used.

As for my fish, great sized portion, fresh, crisp skin, and flavoursome. However I felt it was a little over salty but that would not stop me from ordering again.

As for dessert I liked the sauce as it was tangy and sharp plus nice pieces of fruit but it was not what I expected and I don’t call this an Eton Mess. I am unsure if I would have again though as it was not that large.

Members of LPUL club chose to start Duck & Pistachio Rillette and Burrata. All of their dishes looked great but the Burrata wow it was huge and looked ever so creamy. In fact the one who ate this said it was the best she has ever had. For mains one had the Hake like me and agreed salty, one a Rib Eye Steak and other a Fillet Steak in which each enjoyed. As for dessert we all had the Winter Mess and agreed nice in taste but not what we excepted to get served.

The wine we opted for was a bottle of AIX a rose wine. AIX is a well-balanced premium Provence rose. It provided a fresh, fragrant notes of fresh red fruits and peach. A nice subtle flavour, not overpowering at all.

Verdict

Overall I would definitely go again as I loved the ambience of the place, enjoyed the food and loved the live jazz.

So if you want to get away from the hustle and bustle of life head on down to 28-50 by Night and enjoy a chilled night of great food, wine and music within this nostalgic 1920’s wine bar & restaurant.
