Mr Whites delicious steaks and so much more in the heart of the West End

I have been to many steak restaurants within London over the years but I honestly can say that Marco’s newest restaurant Mr Whites within Leicester Square really does serve the most delicious steaks.

For those who don’t know Marco Pierre White he is an acclaimed chef, restaurateur and TV personality.

At the age of 16 Marco started as a commis as he trained to be a chef by Albert Roux and Michel Roux.

During his years as a chef he has trained and teamed up with the likes of Gordon Ramsay, Heston Blumenthal, Jason Atherton, and so many other known and Michelin star chefs.

At 24 he became Head Chef and joint owner of Harveys. At 33 he became the youngest chef to be awarded three Michelin stars.

He has a number of restaurants across the UK under different brands all which serve different cuisines and a range of experiences from afternoon tea to brunches. Now he brings to London his newest restaurant Mr White’s.

As a fan of Marco’s I was luckily enough to be invited down on a PR basis to review his latest restaurant and I was very impressed. So much so that his restaurant has become one of my favourite restaurants to eat within or even to grab a drink within London.

Mr White’s

Mr White’s is Marco’s newest halal steak restaurant which opened up November 2022. It is based in the heart of the West End in Leicester Square.

Within Mr White’s you can enjoy top quality food within a relaxed atmosphere, from delicious steaks, authentic Italian pizza, refreshing drinks from gins to wines. He even has his own London Dry Gin in which you can enjoy.

The restaurant is ideal for casual lunches, pre-theatre drinks or a relaxed meal with friends, colleagues or family, as Mr. White’s has something for everyone.

Mr White’s delicious steaks and so much more

Mr White’s has to be one of the most romantic and prettiest restaurants within London.

As soon as I and my husband entered through the doors to the reception of Mr White’s we were checked in by lovely welcoming staff who then showed us to the bar area whilst our table was being prepared as we were a little early.

Heading on through to the bar area I loved how big space is and how bright. Sitting at a booth area within the bar area it was great to see the large selection of drinks on offer from cocktails, wines, beers etc.

There is even a great range of gin based drinks and Marco in fact even has his own gin which you can order. Note it is 40% proof.

However as we both love Espresso Martinis we decided to order them, as we just love a good Espresso Martini and it did not disappoint. The Espresso Martini had a great head of froth and a lovely taste of coffee, clean and smooth.

Food glorious food

When we were ready to eat we were led to our table within the restaurant area which was gorgeous. The interior is full of browns, there are cute booths and lovely marble tables. Plus plenty of plants make the whole place feel like a botanical paradise. The whole room looked so elegant and felt very romantic with the dimmed lighting.

The menu has a great choice of dishes to choose, such as pasta, seafood, meat and a variety of vegetarian dishes.

Whilst gazing over the menus, A la Carte menu and the Specials we decided to enjoy a glass of White Zinfandel Rose Wicked Lady. Now I am not really one for wine as I am more into spirit based drinks but this wine was exceptional. I can’t usually pick up the notes of wine but drinking this one I could smell and taste immediately strawberries and blackberries so I asked the barman and wow I was spot on.

The wine is absolutely gorgeous, sweet, fruity and refreshing. In fact it is now both our new favourite wine.

Maybe I am a wine connoisseur after all.

Now for the food to start we ordered some warm Focaccia, along with Saffron Arancini balls and Aubergine Parmigiana. In which I and my husband decided to share.

The Focaccia was so fresh that it had a lovely spongy texture and a great hit of saltiness.

The Saffron Arancini was crisp golden balls filled with delicious tasting rich Ragu alla Bolognaise.

The Aubergine Parmigiana was a lovely dish of aubergine which is seeped in tangy tomato sauce.

For mains we both decided to both have steak but different cuts as after all Marco’s restaurants are known for their delicious steaks and wow they did not disappoint.

I chose the Signature Fillet Steak Ai Funghi from their specials menu as I do love fillet steak and as it came with spinach and mushrooms rather than chips really swung it for me, as I am not keen on chips. The steak was cooked to my liking of medium rare and unlike other restaurants this steak was cooked to perfection just how I like it. The fillet cut through like butter and really did melt in the mouth. The spinach and mushrooms served with it worked beautifully. The spinach was so fresh, green and buttery and the woodland mushrooms a real delight providing a real earthiness with every bite. I wish that this was on the a la carte menu as I would love to have this again.

Jason chose to have the 28 Day Aged Ribeye Steak from the a la carte menu. It was cooked medium rare to his liking. The ribeye is a little chewier than fillet but still the steak did not disappoint as the flavour was rich. The chips served with the steak also were ever so tasty, as they are triple cooked they provided a great crunch and a fluffiness. The potatoes used are also from Pierre Koffmann estate so they are not your normal average potato. His potatoes are e.

Plus with all steaks served you can opt for a sauce of either peppercorn, béarnaise or garlic butter. We both chose the peppercorn sauce and it was ever so creamy with that little bit of heat thanks to the peppercorns.

Then it was onto mains I originally wanted the Chocolate Truffle Torte but unfortunately had sold out that night, so must be a very popular dessert. Next time I will have to try.

Anyway so I ended up ordering Baked Cheesecake which I don’t normally order or even like but this cheesecake was actually quite good. Was not to dense, and was served on just the right amount of biscuit base. The topping was a compote of blueberries giving it a fruity and tangy taste. So if you love baked cheesecake then you will love this one.

Jason chose the Tiramisu which he says is the best ever as it was not overly covered in coco powder and was ever so creamy with a hit of coffee which was not too overpowering. So if like him you hate tons of coco powder then you’ll love this tiramisu.

Cutting & slicing our way through delicious food

Verdict

Rating: 5 out of 5.

Mr White’s really did not disappoint, and in fact is now one of our favourite restaurants within London from the stunning surroundings, delicious food and relaxed atmosphere.

Apart from the delicious food on offer what we really loved in particular about Mr White’s restaurant is the layout as there are plenty of booth type area even centrally. No matter where you sit you will feel like you are not on show, they feels quite private and intimate. So you can enjoy a party with your friends or a romantic date night without feeling that others from other tables are joining you. Plus the plants within around the restaurant makes for a very romantic tranquil setting.

So if you love pasta, seafood, meat, pizza, steak or are a plant based eater and love redefine dishes then you’ll love Mr White’s.

Eat within Mr White’s or enjoy an al fresco experience out on the heated terrace. No matter where you sit though you are guaranteed a great delicious experience.
