Parmigiano Reggiano event with Gennaro Contaldo

I just LOVE Italian food and chefs so when I won the competition via Parmigiano Reggiano to learn how to cook Italian dishes via Gennaro Contaldo and eat Parmigiano Reggiano within London’s Eataly it was a dream come true.

Parmigiano Reggiano even though it comes from Italy is used all over the world as it is a very famous, popular and very tasty cheese. It is believed that Parmigiano Reggiano was produced back as far as 1254 by Benedictine monks, whom lived in Parma Reggio region of Italy. They created the cheese when they needed to find a way to extend the shelf-life of the large quantity of milk they were producing from their cattle.

As this was a very special event to flagship about Parmigiano Reggiano, Gennaro Contaldo a very well known Italian chef was bought in to talk us through about this wonderful cheese, and teach us a few tasty recipes using Parmigiano Reggiano.

Parmigiano Reggiano

Parmigiano Reggiano is an aged cheese which comes from Italy’s region of Parma, Reggio Emilia, Modena, Mantua and Bologna. Only using certain approved ingredients.

Watch how Parmigiano Reggiano is made:

Simply it’s made from milk which is poured into the traditional upturned bell-shaped copper vats which then naturally coagulates with the addition of rennet and a whey starter, rich in starter cultures. Then cooked, skimmed and wrapped in linen cloth.

MyChocolate workshops is happiness rolled into two

MyChocolate workshops is happiness rolled into two as not only is the workshop a fun experience but eating the chocolate is pure joy. Did you know that chocolate can in fact actually make you happy as endorphins are released when you eat it. Why? as the amino acids which are in chocolate produce serotonin in your brain (the neurotransmitter) which is responsible for producing the feeling of happiness.

MyChocolate run a variety of workshops from Chocolate Espresso Martini class through to The Original Chocolate Making Workshop.

I went along to experience MyChocolate Original Chocolate Making Workshop in which I learnt how to make a giant chocolate button with a marbling affect and made a batch of ganache truffles.

I went along on a press basis to experience their Original Chocolate Making Workshop to show me how fun and easy making chocolate can be.

MyChocolate

MyChocolate was set up by founder Hannah back in Summer 2003.

Hannah wanted to bring fun and joy to all in the form of a chocolate, as after all chocolate is happiness.

During her degree she decided to take a trip around Europe to figure out what she wanted to do with her life and it was not long till she realised that her trip seemed to centre around one thing…chocolate!

Once she was back from her travels, she began to wonder if there was something she could do with her chocolate obsession? Before long she transformed her flat into a makeshift chocolate kitchen where she started to experiment with batches of fresh cream truffles, pralines and even chocolate cocktails.

Toshiba Microwave ML-EM23P(SS) save time

There are a variety of microwaves on the market but for me personally Toshiba sell some of the smartest looking microwaves which are affordable. What is a microwave good for though you might ask? Well a microwave is like an oven but a lot smaller and faster. Within a microwave you can defrost food, cook a variety of dishes within it, and saves you time.

Microwaves were first introduced as a device to save time. However since then apart from throwing in a microwaveable meal bought from a supermarket microwaves have highly evolved. Now within microwaves you can cook practically anything such as a turkey.

Courtesy of Toshiba I was given a microwave on a gifted basis to show me how microwaves have evolved and how much time you can save.

Toshiba brand

Toshiba was founded back in 1939 in Japan which was a merge of two companies, Shibaura Seisakusho (Shibaura Engineering Works) and Tokyo Denki (Tokyo Electric). Since merging this multinational conglomerate organisation has become one of the worlds leading brands in electrics. They supply a range of diversified products and services which range from power, elevators, escalators, kitchen electronics, home electronics, lighting and so much more. However they are mostly known though for their laptops, other home appliances and medical equipment.

Convenient cooking at home

Microwaves are a great alternate to an oven as they make cooking that much quicker, be it a pre-made microwave meal or to cook a homemade dish. No matter what you cook in a microwave the time it would cook in an oven is highly reduced.

Wulff Den Deli makes slicing and dicing easy

During lockdown and with many restaurants closed I have been cooking more often at home, but who knew knives make a big difference to when it comes to slicing and dicing in the kitchen as I discovered.

I have many knives at home and to be fair they are your usual cheap run of the mill knives and most are over a decade old so they are quite blunt but I never thought that having decent sharp knives would really make a difference and how wrong was I.

I was gifted on a courtesy basis thanks to Wulff Den Deli a set of their Bleddyn knife range to show me that professional knives are very important to have and use. Each made slicing and dicing that much easier from cutting meat, fish, vegetables, fruit and cheese.
