Mrs Riot every Saturday enjoy a riotous party full of cupcakes, bottomless drinks and Drag Queens

We all love a brunch but have you ever had a brunch which consists of cupcakes, bottomless drinks and entertainment provided by Drag Queens? No, then head on down to Mrs Riot for a riotous party like no other.

What is a drag queen though you might ask? well a drag queen is usually a cisgender male, who uses drag/female clothing and makeup to imitate an exaggerated version of a female gender. The reason I believe we all love to be entertained by drag queens is the mystery which surrounds drag queens. Making us wonder what kind of queen are they, and what sort of person are they like underneath all that glitz and glamour?

At Mrs Riot in London’s Covent Garden held every Saturday a brunch like no other which Queen Margo and her friends hold a riotous bottomless brunch giving a performance of her life whist all diners munch down on cupcakes, sip on endless drinks as well as getting involved from dance offs to lip-synching battles.

Mrs Riot invited me and other members of Love Pop Ups London down for a riotous time.

Mrs Riot

It’s 2021 and Mrs Riot is open. Inspired by the 1700s iconic feminist, Kitty Clive and her most famous character Mrs Riot, is a place for cocktails, cabaret and so much more as you transport yourself to a different era of entertainment.

Mrs Riot was one of the first sirens, rebels and role models to change the course of history back in the 1700s. She was a Georgian celeb, a Regency VIP, vivacious, vulgar and lucrative icon of theatreland. Onstage, she tickled her audiences with her slick satire, while off-stage she more than tickled those lucky enough to be invited into her inner circle.

After almost 300 years, she has returned to the same streets where she was discovered, when singing while cleaning the steps of an actors’ tavern in the heart of Covent Garden. She went on to make these pavements her playground, and now you’re invited to her party…

Mrs Riot in Covent Garden is London’s most unique bar and are the first and only place to experience a Drag Queen Cupcake Bottomless Brunch! For 90 minutes expect the finest drag queens, along with singalongs, lip syncs, runway walks, and all kinds of other interactive craziness. Unlimited drinks mean that the juices keep flowing from pink bellinis, high-class rosehip cocktails and summery Aperol spritzes along with vegan cupcakes.

Sayvll Beverage Co alcohol free drinks are the answer to NO more hangovers

Have you ever gone along to a party and felt a little left out as you can’t join in with your friends and family and enjoy a nice refreshing cocktail as you are driving or just can’t drink alcohol? Well now thanks to Savyll you to now can sip and enjoy a refreshing tasty non alcoholic cocktail which really does look and taste like the real thing.

A non alcoholic drink is usually known as a virgin cocktail or mocktail and is usually styled around a classic cocktail except without the alcohol. Non alcoholic drinks have been around for decades and used to be known as Temperance Drinks. The first mention of mocktail came about in America 1916.

Evolving over time the 1980s saw the resurgence of a mocktail movement with sugary drinks. Following the sophistication of cocktail culture of the 2000s, the zero proof drink became more refined.

With mocktails becoming more and more popular, as many people are swinging away from alcohol they can now often be found on cocktail menus within restaurants and bars. Plus many supermarkets also sell mocktails within bottles and cans.

Did you know that mocktails are are crafted using more or less the same combinations of sodas, juices, herbs, and syrups to create a refreshing mocktail, just minus the alcohol. Mixologists also use the same mixology methods and tools in which they would use when making a regular cocktail.

I was kindly gifted courtesy of Savyll their two great gift packs the Simplicity Tasting Pack and Bon Vivant Tasting Pack.

Savyll Beverage Company

The Savyll Beverage Company was set up by founder Avnish Babla as he believed that everyone deserves classic and distinguished alternatives to alcohol when choosing not to drink.

Savyll sell a great range of crafted ready-to-serve, alcohol free cocktails that recreates the familiarity, complexity and sense of occasion of the world’s most popular cocktails. From a Bellini, G&T, Mojito, Paloma Tequila, Moscow Mule, Old Cuban and Spiced Rum & Cola.

All Savyll’s cocktails are made from all natural flavours and extracts, and has less than 5g per 100ml of natural cane sugar. As they don’t use artificial flavouring or sweeteners. Plus apart from not containing any alcohol all of their cocktails are vegan friendly and gluten-free.

Everyone no matter if your young or old as all can enjoy the taste of Savyll as they are alcohol-free after all.

Oxford Rye Whisky nutty and spicy

If your looking for a new kind of whisky which is smooth, nutty and spicy then I highly recommend Oxford Rye. What makes Oxford Rye’s special compared to other whisky’s is that their whisky is distilled using an ancient heritage rye, a crop which used to be commonly cultivated across the English countryside in pre-industrial times. Did you know to qualify as a pure rye spirit and not a rye whisky, a liquid must be under three years old, which Oxford Rye is.

I was gifted a bottle courtesy from The Oxford Artisan Distillery on a press related basis to sample their Oxford Rye whisky and I discovered not only is it great as a drink but works well within bakes.

The Oxford Artisan Distillery

In 1994 John Letts discovered over 200 almost perfectly preserved examples of traditional wheat and rye landraces in the bottom layers of thatched buildings dating from the late Medieval period (1375-1550 AD). His work showed that, in spite of poor soils, these ancient crops grew to over 1.5 metres tall and that if these fields had been manured crops it would have grown much taller and fallen over in the wind and rain, ruining the harvest.

Today, his fields are monocultures of uniform dwarf wheat varieties that are only a third of the height of older heritage lines, which can be seen in artwork from earlier centuries. The tall stems of older cereals are matched by their much larger root systems, which allows them to absorb moisture and nutrients from deep below the soil surface. This means they are better at surviving drought, but will also grow very tall and fall over if grown with fertilisers or in rich soil.

They produce whisky, gin and vodka.

Hiver drink their beer save honey bees

Everyone knows that without bees we’d all be in a very difficult place environmentally, and that is one of the reason Hiver has made it their cause from the beginning to help British beekeepers by sponsoring and using their honey within their beer.

For instance if you look at any plate of food we eat, bees have most likely played a big part in either pollinating the many vegetables and fruits we eat directly or pollinating the food for the animals that we then consume. Plus that’s not all bees do for us, as honey and wax are two other important products that come courtesy of bees.

As a lover of bees, honey and beer Hiver is the perfect beer to have. Plus the beauty about Hiver is that all their beer uses honey which they source from three select Bee Keeping farms here within the British Isles.

Thanks to Hiver I was invited down on a press related invite to learn more about their beers as well as bees.

Hiver Urban Experience in Kennington

Discovering about bees and Hiver beer.

Bee Urban

Since 2015 Bee Urban has been looking after honey bees, growing herbs, fruit and vegetables. Their site is in Kennington Park, The Hive is situated behind the cafe and in front of St Agnes church in Kennington Park.

Bee Urban honey bees are a social enterprise that aims to work with communities to improve the environment for the benefit of us all. They focus on responsible urban beekeeping, horticulture and community growing.

The pond and garden area is a space to come and learn about beekeeping, organic gardening and sustainable living, whilst providing nectar and forage for the bees in our apiary. Their cob oven is regularly used for their home made pizza sessions.

Within the workshop educational classes take place from beekeeping demonstrations, gardening and training sessions. Plus there is a small shop within where you can purchase candle-making equipment, honey and so much more.

Hiver

Since 2013 Hiver has been brewing their honey beer with their first beer being their flagship natural blonde beer.

Hiver was born out of an admiration for London’s urban beekeepers and a passion for craft beer. Hannah Rhodes, was the one who was inspired to create a quality beer using honey, following the discovery of the vast array of honey produced in London. The number of bee hives in London has soared in recent years following news that global bee numbers were in rapid decline. Unpasteurised, more textured and flavourful honey is used in the brewing process, contributing to the taste and body of the beer. Since brewing Hiver has gone from strength to strength with listings at Ocado, Marks & Spencers, and a number of independent merchants and pubs.

All of Hiver beers use raw honey which is sourced from independent British beekeepers, in whom they sponsor and run fun experiences at as also helping spread the knowledge about the role of bees and bee keepers are equally as important to them. They also believe that supporting the beekeepers they work with is one of the best ways to support British bees and helps give us all the best insight in how we should help support bee populations by planting for bees. With every web order at Hiver you will receive a free seasonal flower pack of seeds too, to plant and help bees. Plus working towards B-Corp accreditation they pledge to donate 10% of profits to pollinator and green spacing projects.

Hiver uses honey as an integral part of their brewing process, helping to deliver crisp, light tasting beer with a subtle honey aroma and flavour. Hiver never pasteurise their beer either, which means you will always get the freshest, most natural beer in your glass.

Hiver also has gone the extra mile working with local suppliers, from the people that kiln their glass, produce their labels and stamp their business card keeping to a low carbon footprint.

No wonder Hiver has won a number of awards from Britain’s Next Top Supplier to being the only British medal winner at the World Beer Challenge (with two gold medals) in 2018, a recent European Beer Star Gold and an industry award for Corporate Social Responsibility gets Hiver into the Best of British Beers.
