Escape from the Golden Hinde a Secret Studio Adventure – will you sink or survive?

Did you know that there are over 1,500 escape rooms in the UK? If you knew or not, what makes Escape from the Golden Hinde by Secret Studio that much more unique and special is the fact that is actually takes place on a historical reconstructed ship which is moored up near London Bridge.

The original Golden Hinde which is a galleon (sailing ship) was captained by Francis Drake. He was an English explorer, sea captain, privateer, slave trader, naval officer and politician. However Drake is best known for his circumnavigation of the world in a single expedition, from 1577 to 1580.

The Golden Hinde originally though was known as the Pelican, but Drake renamed her mid-voyage in 1578, in honour of his patron, Sir Christopher Hatton, whose crest was a golden hind (a female red deer). Hatton was one of the principal sponsors of Drake’s world voyage.

Now you can explore this historical replica of the Golden Hinde in a different kind of way, rather than just a tour. Get to learn about Drake as you take on challenges to save yourself from the sinking ship but will you save Drake along the way or will your brand him as a pirate, and leave him to sink along with the ship but don’t take too long in deciding as the ship is sinking after all!

I was invited down along with my crew members on a press related basis to help solve the mysteries of the Golden Hinde and find the lost treasure within.

Escape from the Golden Hinde by Secret Studio

Escape from the Golden Hine is an interactive adventure on the historic 16th century galleon in London near London Bridge!

The Golden Hinde is grand reconstruction of the ship Sir Francis Drake sailed around the world in the 1570s. Plus this ship also sailed around the world in the 1970s.

It is believe that the Golden Hine is haunted by ghosts from both journeys. So, the ship holds an unhappy mix of spirits like a dodgy Rum Mojito.

If you love seafood as much as I do but live in London and not near the coast but really craving seafood then look no further as The Seafood Bar within London on Dean Street is the restaurant to visit. They are an AWARD WINNING restaurant founded by the De Visscher family, who have been fishmongers since 1984. They are famous for oysters and their seafood platters but they also sell a great range of other seafood dishes such as calamari as well as traditional fish & chips.

I went along on a press related basis to experience the delights of what they had on offer.

The Seafood Bar

The Seafood Bar is founded by the De Visscher family.

Fons de Visscher is a a respected fishmonger in Helmond, a small city in the Netherlands, and he decided to start a new adventure. Driven by his passion for fish and great wines, Fons created The Seafood Bar. His very first restaurant opened its doors back in 2012 in Van Baerlestraat in Amsterdam shortly followed by a three more.

28 August 2021 the De Visscher family opened up it’s first London restaurant serving up a great variety of fresh seafood all from within a 1730 Grade II listed Georgian townhouse on Dean Street.

There concept is very simple, incredible fresh products, and reasonable prices. In short, good food and drinks. But the real success lies in his dedication of the De Visscher family – 100% heart for the business, 24 hours a day. With attention for the guests and an eye for every detail.

Sleep is very important as not only does it recharge our body and mind from restoring our immune, nervous, skeletal and muscular systems which helps our mood, memory and cognitive function. However did you know that sleeping on the right kind of pillowcase can also make a big difference from comfort, skin and hair?

I was kindly given a Calidad Home pillowcase to test and review.

Calidad Home

Michelle is the founder of Calidad Home.

For 12 months before selling silk pillowcases she researched into what silk was all about, where it’s sourced, how it’s made, and it’s benefits.

Her products are 100% A grade, and uses long strand 22 momme Mulberry Silk which is the silk you can get. Momme, is the gauge by which silk is measured. Silk cannot be measured the same as cotton, by thread count because the thread is so fine it has to be woven very finely and then the weight per metre determines the momme. The best weight for silk pillowcases is 22.

Mr Whites delicious steaks and so much more in the heart of the West End

I have been to many steak restaurants within London over the years but I honestly can say that Marco’s newest restaurant Mr Whites within Leicester Square really does serve the most delicious steaks.

For those who don’t know Marco Pierre White he is an acclaimed chef, restaurateur and TV personality.

At the age of 16 Marco started as a commis as he trained to be a chef by Albert Roux and Michel Roux.

During his years as a chef he has trained and teamed up with the likes of Gordon Ramsay, Heston Blumenthal, Jason Atherton, and so many other known and Michelin star chefs.

At 24 he became Head Chef and joint owner of Harveys. At 33 he became the youngest chef to be awarded three Michelin stars.

He has a number of restaurants across the UK under different brands all which serve different cuisines and a range of experiences from afternoon tea to brunches. Now he brings to London his newest restaurant Mr White’s.

As a fan of Marco’s I was luckily enough to be invited down on a PR basis to review his latest restaurant and I was very impressed. So much so that his restaurant has become one of my favourite restaurants to eat within or even to grab a drink within London.

Mr White’s

Mr White’s is Marco’s newest halal steak restaurant which opened up November 2022. It is based in the heart of the West End in Leicester Square.

Within Mr White’s you can enjoy top quality food within a relaxed atmosphere, from delicious steaks, authentic Italian pizza, refreshing drinks from gins to wines. He even has his own London Dry Gin in which you can enjoy.

The restaurant is ideal for casual lunches, pre-theatre drinks or a relaxed meal with friends, colleagues or family, as Mr. White’s has something for everyone.

No.79 mousse & coffee cafe with a difference

Mousse, for me, is one of the ultimate desserts as it light, airy, smooth, and ever so creamy but I have never had a mousse which has been presented in such a way that I just did not want to destroy it and that is exactly what happened when I visited No.79 cafe in London.

No.79 is a new dedicated mousse cafe in London who produce an array of stunning looking mousses, as well as serve up some great tasty coffee, tea and bubble tea.

Did you know that mousse originated in the 18th century in France, where the word mousse translates as ‘foam’ describing the airy texture of a mousse.

There are many different types of mousses on the market with chocolate being the most popular and classic. No.79 though is far more as they go way beyond with their stunning mousses from a rose shaped mousse to even a dog, all of which are loaded with surprises from chocolate spread centres to sponge.

Courtesy of No.79 I was invited down on a press basis to sample some of their delicious mousses which really did satisfy my sweet tooth.

No.79

Owners of Hefaure London now bring to London No.79 which is a café which specialises in mousse.

It opened it’s doors in London on Dean Street on 25 November 2021.

Caribbean delights

Antillean is set within a Grade II building on Blackfriars Road. upon looking at the entrance yo would of thought it was going to be a small restaurant but in fact once you step inside things are much bigger than I though, think Doctor Who’s Tardis.

Swamp Motel brings to London The Drop question is are you brave enough?

Swamp Motel presents The Drop which is a very tense and scary, immersive escape game adventure in which you start in being trapped in a lift! The Drop allows all to live one of their biggest fears as you the whole adventure by being trapped in a lift, question is will you escape in time before the lift drops or even worse?

Having played Swamp Motel virtual event The Kindling Hour during last year this time around I went and played their newest live game The Drop. I was invited down to experience their latest immersive experience in London to see how brave I am, and let’s just say I am not. Thankfully I was allowed to also bring some friends otherwise I don’t think I would of escaped.

Swamp Motel presents The Drop

Co-founders and creative directors Ollie Jones and Clem Garrity (both Kill the Beast and Punchdrunk alumni), brings to London their largest live production to date. It’s also their first IRL experience since the lockdowns.

Press image

“We can’t wait to make our return to live entertainment with The Drop. It’s an ambitious and elaborate production that explores the rich history and tale of tragedy surrounding one of the world’s most famous texts, The Great Omar. Like all our work, audiences will be right at the centre of the story, a story we hope will leave them questioning what was real and what wasn’t long after they leave.

This has been a long time in the making for us so we’re particularly excited to premiere it in our home city of London this autumn as the culture scene bounces back to life.”

Says Ollie Jones and Clem Garrity

With The Drop the creators have uncanny blurred the boundaries between the game and reality, making audiences question what is real and what is not as they take on a dark scary adventure where it all starts within a lift.

Will you go up, down, or further than you imagined?
