The Wizard Exploratorium afternoon tea – unicorn poop, potions, magic and so much more

As a fan of all things magic, sweet treats and tea when I heard about The Wizard Exploratorium’s newest event for a Magical Afternoon Tea at theirs I just had to do it.

Afternoon tea is a quintessential English thing. Traditionally afternoon tea consists of a selection of dainty sandwiches, cakes, scones served with clotted cream and preserves and of course tea served within tea pots.

But how did the Afternoon Tea come about in England? Afternoon tea came about in 1840 thanks to Anna, the seventh Duchess of Bedford. Within the household dinner was served fashionably late at eight, thus leaving a long period of time between lunch and dinner. Around 4pm the Duchess would become hungry and ask for a tray of tea, bread and butter and cake be brought to her room. This became a habit of hers and she began inviting friends to join her and this is how afternoon tea came about. During the 1880’s upper-class and society women would change into long gowns, gloves and hats for their afternoon tea which was usually served in the drawing room between four and five o’clock. Nowadays however, in the average suburban home, afternoon tea is likely to be just a biscuit or small cake and a mug of tea, usually produced using a teabag.

A traditional Afternoon Tea with all the works can still be enjoyed within many restaurants, hotels and tearooms across the UK but if your looking for a magical one then The Wizard Exploratorium is the place to go for magic and wander.

I was invited down on a PR basis courtesy of The Wizard Exploratorium to experience and review their newest magical event yet for a Magical Afternoon Tea.

Did you know you can enjoy an afternoon tea underneath the Cutty Sark

The Cutty Sark is one of the main vocal points of Greenwich which many people gaze upon and even board. However did you know that you can enjoy an afternoon tea under her?

I had the pleasure of being invited on a complimentary basis to take a tour of the Cutty Sark before enjoying an afternoon tea under her belly.

The Cutty Sark

The Cutty Sark is a British clipper ship and was built back in 1869 to challenge the best tea clippers on the China tea run.

Built on the River Clyde in Glasgow, Scotland for Jock Willis Shipping Line, the Cutty Sark was one of the last tea clippers to be built and one of the fastest.

For her first few years the Cutty Sark was used to transport tea back and forth from England to China before turning to the trade in wool from Australia, where she held the record time to Britain for ten years.

In 1895 the Cutty Sark was sold to the Portuguese company Ferreira and Co. and renamed Ferreira. She continued as a cargo ship until purchased in 1922 by retired sea captain Wilfred Dowman, who used her as a training ship operating from Falmouth in Cornwall. After his death, Cutty Sark was transferred to the Thames Nautical Training College in Greenhithe in 1938 where she became an auxiliary cadet training ship alongside HMS Worcester. By 1954, she had ceased to be useful as a cadet ship and was transferred to here in Greenwich within a permanent dry dock for the public to enjoy.

Hen Party and Weekend Ideas UK in 2019*

Seriously, there is no need for every hen party to be involved in tacky polyester sashes. Or perhaps make it look like it is a stale, cheesy nightclub, which does not really make the entire concept unique or interesting. After all, who wants to settle in the old-fashioned hen do? It is time you start thinking outside the box and introduce a party that everyone would want to be part of.

Take for example London, which is considered home to a slew of hen party ideas be it new or old. It is almost expected from every person there to go for chic bars, silent disco, or boozy brunches, not to mention the titular fitness challenges that everyone is celebrating.

But hey, the one above are just some of the many favourite hen do ideas out there. And yes, you have come to the right place. Here they are!
