Doctor Who Time Fracture – The Doctor needs you!

Have you ever wondered what it would be like to travel with Doctor Who and meet an array of characters such as Brolls, Clockwork, Daleks, even The Queen? Well now you can as you can take a journey through the doors of Doctor Who Time Fracture in which just like the Tardis it’s bigger on the inside and you take an adventure like no other, where you’ll travel back in time and get to discover and meet a host of historical famous people, robots and even aliens.

Thanks to Doctor Who Time Fracture creators I was given the opportunity to travel back in time and space twice for free, to give my views of what it is like to travel through a time fracture.

Doctor Who Time Fracture

Doctor Who Time Fracture is a new ground-breaking immersive theatrical adventure, which will allow you to plunge yourself into the incredible universe of Doctor Who and encounter the Daleks, Cybermen, and so much more.

Doctor Who is one of the longest running action adventure television series in the world spanning 55 years and winning over 100 awards. This quintessentially British show has a huge global following, with 9.6m fans across social platforms/channels and 100m video views on YouTube in the last year alone. It has been honoured by Guinness World Records as the longest running science-fiction series in the world. Doctor Who has a proven track-record in consumer products and live entertainment with over four and a half million Sonic Screwdrivers sold in the past eleven years, over 13 million action figures sold since 2005, over 19 million DVDs sold globally and over one million tickets sold for live events.

Thanks to Gavin Kalin Productions, Totally Theatre Productions and Immersive Everywhere the creative minds behind London’s longest running and critically acclaimed immersive theatre production, The Great Gatsby you now can take on a journey just like Doctor Who with a time lord.

“The Doctor needs you! The Universe as we know it is at stake – now is the time to step up and be the hero. For decades, in a quiet corner of Mayfair, London, a dangerous rift in time and space has been monitored by a group of loyal members of the long-thought-disbanded Unified Intelligence Taskforce – or UNIT for short. Until now they have managed to protect the people of Earth from the threat the rift poses but, weakened and beaten back as the Time Fracture grows out of control, they’re now close to defeat.

Doctor Who Time Fracture opened initially back in May 2021 but was short lived as shortly after opening they were hit by flash floods in July which caused extensive damage and meant that the show had to close for major repairs. This included installing a flood defence system; but in September and October, when rain storms hit the capital once again, work towards reopening suffered severe setbacks. Now the building is finally fixed with a new drainage and reopen welcoming back fans and new audiences to experience an immersive adventure like no other.

“Question is our you brave enough to travel back in time and face the cybermen?”

Money Heist The Experience question is have you got what it takes?

Have you ever wanted to know what it would feel like if you got caught up in a heist and then ended up helping rob a vault loaded with money? Well now you can as Money Heist: The Experience within London gives you that opportunity.

Just off Old Brompton Road within inside Christie’s old auction house a heist is going to be taking place. Walking through the doors, checking in and putting on a pair of headphones everything seemed quite normal. Before heading into Pennington’s auction room all getting a chance to stroll around and admire the pieces for sale from a golden toilet to paintings. Everything might have seemed quite normal but are people scratching their heads and rubbing the back of their necks? what does this all mean, have they got flees or is there a secret intel message that is being piped through the headphones? Upon entering Pennington’s auction room this is where everyone’s physical, mental and morals are put to the test.

I was invited down on a press related basis to take on a heist and to let you all know what a great experience you can have on this immersive theatrical experience within London.

SENSAS take your senses on a journey and help raise money for charity

Most of us all have the five basic senses of touch, sight, hearing, smell and taste but have you ever taken them on a challenge? At SENSAS you can do just that.

Before I tell you more about SENSAS the most unique ultimate experience you can ever enjoy within London I will explain a little about how our senses work.

Touch – this is thought to be the first sense that us humans develop. Touch is communicated to the brain through specialized neurons in the skin. Pressure, light touch, vibration, temperature, pain and other sensations are all part of our touch sense. However did you know that touch can also influence how us humans make decisions. Texture can be associated with abstract concepts and touching something with a texture can influence the decision we make.

Sight – looking through our eyes is a complex process. The cornea bends light which passes through the hole of the pupil. The iris works like a shutter of a camera, retracting to shut out light or opening wider to let in more light in. The lens of the eye then bends the light and focuses it on the retina, which is full of nerve cells. All information is then translated from the light and sent as an electrical impulse to the brain through the optic nerve.

Hearing – sound is funnelled through our external ear and sent to our external auditory canal. The sound waves then reach the tympanic membrane. This is a thin sheet of connective tissue that vibrates when sound waves strike it. The vibrations then travels to the middle ear which events the auditory ossicles which there are three tiny bones. They are called the malleus, incus and stapes and this is where all the sounds waves and vibrations are put together helping us hear sound.

Smell – we have over 1 trillion scents which is found on the roof of our nasal cavity, which is next to the smelling part of our brain, the olfactory bulb and fossa. Nerve endings in the olfactory cleft transmit smells to the brain. Plus we have 400 smelling receptors. Getting older can also lessen the ability to smell properly.

Taste – gustatory sense is usually broken down into the perception of different tastes of salt, sweet, sour, bitter and savory. Spice though is not a taste it is actually a pain signal. Taste is sensed via our taste buds. Adults in fact have between 2,000 to 4,000 taste buds. Most of them are on the tongue, but they also line the back of the throat, the epiglottis, the nasal cavity and the esophagus. They work like funnels in which the tiny taste hairs bind chemicals to the cells for tasting. Did you know that smell of food greatly affects how our brain perceives taste plus texture.

I and a bunch of community members of Love Pop Ups London Club took our senses on an adventure together as we tackled a variety of sensory challenges.

SENSAS

The first SENSAS opened up back in 2015 within Marseille, France. Since then 15 other venues have opened with more still to pop up over several countries.

Embark on a unique multi sensory experience with SENSAS which is a one of a kind entertainment activity providing an innovative and fun concept which takes your senses on a challenge as you touch, watch, listen, smell and taste.

MyChocolate workshops is happiness rolled into two

MyChocolate workshops is happiness rolled into two as not only is the workshop a fun experience but eating the chocolate is pure joy. Did you know that chocolate can in fact actually make you happy as endorphins are released when you eat it. Why? as the amino acids which are in chocolate produce serotonin in your brain (the neurotransmitter) which is responsible for producing the feeling of happiness.

MyChocolate run a variety of workshops from Chocolate Espresso Martini class through to The Original Chocolate Making Workshop.

I went along to experience MyChocolate Original Chocolate Making Workshop in which I learnt how to make a giant chocolate button with a marbling affect and made a batch of ganache truffles.

I went along on a press basis to experience their Original Chocolate Making Workshop to show me how fun and easy making chocolate can be.

MyChocolate

MyChocolate was set up by founder Hannah back in Summer 2003.

Hannah wanted to bring fun and joy to all in the form of a chocolate, as after all chocolate is happiness.

During her degree she decided to take a trip around Europe to figure out what she wanted to do with her life and it was not long till she realised that her trip seemed to centre around one thing…chocolate!

Once she was back from her travels, she began to wonder if there was something she could do with her chocolate obsession? Before long she transformed her flat into a makeshift chocolate kitchen where she started to experiment with batches of fresh cream truffles, pralines and even chocolate cocktails.

Back to the Future Musical is now open in London’s West End, Great Scott!

Back to the Future Musical after a long anticipated wait has hit London’s West End with tremendous reviews.

What is Back to the Future Musical? Back to the Future is based on the classic 1985 movie which was directed by Robert Zemeckis and written by Zemeckis and Bob Gale. The movie is based on a nutty inventor who builds a time machine using a DeLorean which sends Marty a teenage boy back in time. Marty in the movies is played by Michael J. Fox, and the eccentric inventor by Christopher Lloyd. The movie set in the 80s follows Marty McFly as he is accidentally sent back to 1955 in a time-traveling DeLorean automobile built by his friend Doctor Emmett Brown aka Doc. Trapped in the past, Marty accidently disturbs time as his future mother falls in love with him. It is then up to him to fix things and get his future parents’ to meet and fall for each other, otherwise he and his future siblings will never exist.

Here are some interesting facts which you might not know about Back to the Future:

  • Back to the Future script was rejected over 40 times by studios because it was not considered raunchy enough to compete with the successful comedies of that era. It was thanks to Zemeckis who secured a deal which then led to a very successful movie franchise.
  • Also originally Michael J Fox even though was the initial the first choice to portray Marty, at the time he was unavailable; so Eric Stoltz was cast instead. However shortly after principal photography began in November 1984, Zemeckis determined Stoltz was not right for the part and made the concessions necessary to hire Michael J Fox. This included re-filming scenes already shot with Stoltz and adding $4 million to the budget.
  • Back to the Future has earnt over $381.1 million and has one of the become the highest-grossing film of 1985 worldwide.
  • In the years since its release, Back to the Future has grown in esteem and is now considered to be among the greatest ever made science-fiction films of the 1980s, and one of the greatest films of all time.
  • The film has received multiple award nominations and won an Academy AwardSaturn Awards, and a Hugo Award.

I was kindly invited on a press related basis to watch Back to the Future Musical at Adelphi Theatre for my thoughts.

Back to the Future Musical

Back to the Future Musical takes audiences to Hill Valley! Where you’ll take an electrifying journey back in time from the 80s to the 50s as you follow Martys adventures.

Bunga Bunga that’s pizza amore

If your heading into London and looking for a pizza restaurant which is like no other then I highly recommend Bunga Bunga in Covent Garden. Why? As this venue is a very unique dining experience as their pizzas are a metre long, yes you heard me a metre long!, plus they put on cabaret performances throughout your dining experience. Every day has a different theme from a pizza making party to Bunga karaoke. Whichever experience you enjoy within Bunga Bunga you will certainly fall in love with this venue.

For those who might be unfamiliar with pizza it is usually round, flattened base made from wheat-based dough, topped with tomatoes, cheese, and other various topping such as mushrooms, olives, anchovies, chicken, prawns, etc. which is then baked at a high temperature, traditionally in a wood-fired oven.

Did you know? though that the term pizza was firstly recorded back in the 10th century in a Latin manuscript from Southern Italy town of Gaeta in Lazio. Modern pizza was invented in Naples, and the dish and its variants have since become popular in many countries. In fact pizza is one of the most popular foods in the world and is a common fast food item which can be enjoyed within restaurants and pizzerias. Also ready made pizzas can be bought within many supermarkets / shops from fresh to frozen ready to cook at home.

Me and some community members of Love Pop Ups London were kindly invited along to enjoy pizza like never before courtesy of Bunga Bunga Inception Group.

At Bunga Bunga we all enjoyed live entertainment by Mamma Bunga, made pizza dough, tossed dough in the air, tucked into a metre long pizza and then we partied the night away.

Bunga Bunga

Bunga Bunga is run by Inception Group who are a fun, creative and dynamic company which was founded back in 2009 by entrepreneurs Charlie Gilkes and Duncan Stirling. The company operates a group of unique bars, restaurants and club concepts all over London.

Late 2011 Bunga Bunga popped up within London’s Covent Garden. An Englishman’s Italian where you can eat, drink and be entertained all under one roof from the early evening until the early morning.

In 2016 Bunga Bunga expanded and on their first floor they opened up a mini area called BungaTINI which is inspired by a neighbourhood back-street Italian bar and pizzeria. It serves up a range of home-made pastries, pizzas and classically simple regional dishes available to eat in or take away.

Five years later in 2017 Bunga Bunga opened up with a second location within Battersea. Which is a bigger and bolder version offering a fully immersive dining experience.

Which ever Bunga Bunga you visit though it provides a pizzeria like no other full of pizza and cabaret.

Swingers will you score a par, birdie or eagle

This Summer might be a wash out for most golfers and those who love to dine al fresco but I know of a venue within London where you can enjoy golf and eat within a themed beach setting but without getting wet, and that is Swingers in the West End.

Swingers is an all adult miniature 9 hole crazy golf experience, but it’s more than just golf as it’s also a social venue with many bars and street food outlets. Sip on tasty drinks, enjoy a variety of delicious street food and party on down to the tunes of their resident DJ.

Simply Swingers is a place to play, drink, eat and have a good time.

I went down on a press basis along with my husband Jason to check out Swingers within the West End and even though it has been open since 2018 it still looks brand new and still buzzing with atmosphere.

Swingers Crazy Golf

Swingers is founded by CEOs and Co-Founders; Matt Grech-Smith and Jeremy Simmonds.

Back in 2014 Swingers swung into London, Shoreditch within a warehouse bringing a combination of crazy golf, cocktails and street food. After 5 months and being a great success Matt and Jeremy decided to seek a permanent home and eventually in 2016 they managed to pop up within a permanent space within the City of London. In 2018 they decided to open up a second venue within Oxford Circus, with further plans for more venues to pop up within London. Each have different themes. Plus Swingers can also be played within America, Washington DC where you can choose from The Clocktower and The Waterwheel. Also a new one will be popping up within New York soon.

Fish To Your Door from the seaside to your door

You don’t need to live near the seaside to have fresh seafood, as Fish To Your Door can deliver a wide range of seafood straight from the sea to your door.

As I am trying to get a bit healthier after putting on nearly two stone due to all the lockdowns because of the Covid pandemic I have decided to cut down on meat and eat more fish, as fish is much healthier and not fatty. Did you know? that seafood is packed with nutrients which is needed for our health and wellness, including omega 3, iron, protein, and vitamins B & D.

Courtesy of Fish To Your Door I was gifted a few samples of their fresh seafood from tuna to lobster to try at home. I discovered it really does make a difference having fresh fish that comes straight from the coast as it is not only looks fresh, better in colour, but has great flavour.

Fish To Your Door

Fish To Your Door has been delivering fresh seafood out of Sussex for over 25 years and is family run.

As to ensure there is continuous stock for all their customers Fish To Your Door purchase fish from all major fish markets around the UK. Plus they only stock responsibly sourced fish from aquaculture farms all over Europe and the Mediterranean.

All the fish they do source are from fisherman and coastal communities that are part of the ‘Under 10 Meter Artisanal Fleet’.
