Chef Niku took us on a culinary journey of his love affair of South Indian food

Indian food is popular all over the world and brings spice and flavour to our taste buds. With Indian food becoming ever more and more popular in the UK the question is do we really know the difference between Indian cuisine from North, East, South and West India?

I was surprised though to learn that South Indian cuisine is lacking in the east market of London and thus Chef Niku wanted to showcase about his love of South India by bringing his stories of his travels and their traditional dishes to our plates to show us that it is not that difficult to cook and reproduce within our homes.

I was lucky enough to be invited down on 26 January on a gifted basis by Chef Niku to dine at his sixth supperclub along with another member of Love Pop Ups London to explore his love and his teams love of South Indian food. Plus as this was India Republic Day what a better way that to enjoy a Sunday eating Indian food.

Chef Niku

Nikitesh Jaiswal is a self-trained chef who loves Indian food.

He grew up in Nagpur, India, but moved to the UK in 2012 to study, and then found work in London few years later.

His passion for food has led him to host a number of events for his friends, birthdays, Diwali parties, barbecues, and supperclubs bringing everyone together and making food the integral centrepiece of every occasion.

At any of Chef Niku supperclubs you’ll enjoy culture, flavours, personalities, music and history, all within an intimate atmosphere.

Food With Mae required NO cutlery? As this was a Kamayan Boodle fight

Food with Mae put on a special night of food which was a Kamayan Boodle supperclub.

Kamayan means to eat with your hands.

A boodle fight is a military style of eating and means food which is piled on top of banana leaves laid out on long tables, and is to be taken with bare hands.

I was invited down along with a friend on a complimentary basis by Mae to her latest supperclub to experience what a Kamayan Boodle fight is like as I have never heard or attended one before.

Food with Mae

Mae is an author, cook and photographer who owns Food with Mae in which she puts on a number of Filipino supperclubs throughout the year.

Gino, Gino, Gino! – WeFiFo: Gino D’Acampo event

Gino held a special event along with WeFiFo the other day and it was FANTASTICO!

Many of the other community members of ‘Love Pop Ups – London’ have had the pleasure to attend many of WeFiFo’s various supperclubs in the past courtesy of me and them (read their blogs/vlogs via clicking here) but this time it was my turn. I paid for my experience though as when I saw Gino’s special event being advertised I immediately wanted to secure my spot as I am a massive fan of Gino D’Acampo. However regardless of that any WeFiFo supperclub event is worth every penny as they are all so unique and special.  Continue reading

Do you want Beauty or the Beast? – Beauty and the Feast

Beauty and the Feast is a blend of theatre and a supper club from the designers Darling & Edge.  This is their latest immersive event that is happening in The Vaults with the story being loosely based on the well-known fairy tale Beauty and the Beast.  Be warned though this is not your average panto as this is for adults only, so leave behind your kids.
