The Vaults meet The Witches of Oz

The Vaults are back with their newest production show and they are known for re-enacting classic stories with an adult themed twist all which focus on LGBTQ+ community, love and gender. This winter ShayShay brings to The Vaults a classic twist on the story of Wizard of Oz which is entitled The Witches of Oz but with a twist. .

The Witches of Oz, sees the Good Witch and Wicked Witch in a fierce battle to be crowned the next Witch of Oz but who will win and can their feud from their past be rectified?

20 years on sees Dor (aka Dorothy) return to Oz thanks to a freak storm but all has changed. Dor is now non-binary, Tin is now a woman, Lion is pansexual and Scarecrow is looking for love.

The big question though is which witch will be crowned the next Witch of Oz? Will they resolve their feud? and most importantly will Dor find a way back home?

I was kindly invited down along with other members from my LPUL Club on a press basis to review their latest show The Witches of Oz. We dined and enjoyed a show full of laughter, goodness and wickedness.

The Vaults

The Vaults is set within a disused railway arch which is in Leake Street near Waterloo Station. They host an array of adult humour theatrical shows throughout the year. Their mission is to collaborate and conspire, embracing artists from all walks of life to come together and inspire others.

They strive to continue to support and co-produce innovative immersive theatre, fusing together art and championing unsung voices, especially those of the LGBTQ+ community. They want to make immersive experiences fun for everyone and focuses on big and current ideas told in outlandish, accessible and in the most unique way.

Hard Rock Café Old Park Lane where it begun

Hard Rock Café is a restaurant chain which can be found across the world but did you know that the very first Hard Rock Café opened up here in London back in 1971 on Old Park Lane.

Within any Hard Rock Café hungry diners can enjoy banging food in particular burgers and also be entertained with tunes and rock memorabilia to gaze upon.

As a fan of Hard Rock Café it was great to be invited along back to where it all started 50 years ago, as they are celebrating their 50th year. I went along on a PR basis to show how they are still going strong and still providing rocking food as well as still displaying from old to new rock memorabilia from all sorts of musicians such as the Jimi Hendrix, Sex Pistols, Elton John, Mick Jagger etc.

Hard Rock Café

Hard Rock Café on Old Park Lane in London is where it all started back on 14 June 1971.

Two American best friends, Peter Morton and Isaac Tigret, who lived in London wanted to open a burger restaurant which gave an authentic experiences that rocked!

1971 – The first Hard Rock Café opened it’s doors back on London’s Old Park Lane. Few years after opening they expanded within openings all over the world.

Mulan Rouge at The Vaults get your drag on

The Vaults are back up and running after being shutdown for a while during the pandemic starting off season their with a great new production show Mulan Rouge.

Mulan Rouge is basically a mash-up of Baz Luhrmann’s Moulin Rouge and Disney’s Mulan. The story is about war, love and LGBT but mostly the show is full of cabaret, dancing and singing to hits from the 80’s & 90’s.

Simply Mulan Rouge is a gender-deconstructive show packed full of puns, all whilst you tuck into a feast fit for any Queen (or King).

The Vaults never disappoints. Other immersive dining shows in which I have attended within The Vaults in the past include Aladdin and the Feast of Wonders, An Evening of Meat, Cinders, Dantes Peak Dinner is Coming, Divine Properties and Red Palace all of which were packed with thrills, laughs and a delicious feast.

I was kindly invited down on a press basis to review their latest show Mulan Rouge where I dined and enjoyed a show full of glitz and glamour.

The Vaults

The Vaults are set in a maze of disused railway arches under Waterloo bringing immersive theatre and alternative arts.

Their latest production show presently is Mulan Rouge which is on till 23 January 2022. This production show by ShayShay is a take on Disney’s Mulan and the movie Moulin Rouge but with a focus on gender, as gender after all is just a social construct. The show is packed full of drag, glitter and naughtiness.

The Vaults presents Dante’s in Furlough – I met the Devil!

At The Vaults I met the devil! Why? as I was attending Nancy’s wedding who was marrying the devil.

It is so great to see that the The Vaults are back! After such a long time being shut due to the pandemic of 2020 they have returned with an all new show called Dante’s in Furlough.

I’ve been to nearly everyone of their immersive shows such as Red PalaceCinderella, An Evening of Meat etc. all of which have been packed with adventure, thrills, laughs and amazing food.

This Winter The Vaults presents Dante’s in Furlough in where you are specially invited at a cost (if you dare) to attend the wedding of Nancy to see her get hitched with the devil. However all is not what it seems.

Are you brave enough to sign over your soul to the devil?

The devil is getting hitched, and given what’s going at the moment, there’s no better time to accept an invitation to the underworld.

At The Vaults have a right royal knees up with Cinders

Stepping into The Vaults I was transported to a themed ‘pub style theatre’ literally, where I got to meet Cinders and her family. However don’t expect this to be your normal Cinderella story as this show is with a modern twist as Cinders lives in a run down pub along with her wicked step mother and step sisters.

I was invited on a complimentary basis along with some other community members of Love Pop Ups London to enjoy a right royal knees up.

Not To Tame production at The Vaults

This summer from 3rd July to 30th September 2018 The Vaults presents Sounds and Sorcery, a new and exciting immersive music concert experience, inspired by Disney Fantasia.  Why? as Micky Mouse is celebrating 90 years this year so it is in celebration to Disney and Mickey.

Feminism rules – An Evening of Meat

I went along with some other members of Love Pop Ups London to experience one of The Vaults latest show An Evening of Meat.

The Vaults

If you don’t know much about The Vaults it is a disused railway under the arches of Waterloo Station in London.  The Vaults are the home for immersive theatre and alternative arts. Their mission is to collaborate and conspire, embracing artists from all walks of life to come together and inspire others.

An Evening of Meat at The Vaults

An Evening of Meat is an immersive theatre and dining experience from all-female creative collective, I AM. We’ve all heard the expression ‘she was treated like a piece of meat’ well this show is about showing and exploring the female form, power and strength as we are not all ‘pieces of meat’.  Feminist performers take the artistic show to a new level. Risk it or not? – Exit Productions: Revolution

Exit Productions limited brings Revolution to the Vaults in Waterloo.  Part game and part immersive theatre this show allows audiences to experience the pressures of leadership, and making political decisions.

Exit Productions: Revolution

Which faction will be end up in?

Firstly upon entering the damp cold Vaults you are presented a choice strong, freedom or principal? Depending which answer you give will determine which faction you go into.

I was taken aside and asked to whisper my choice.  I chose principal as I feel principals are important. However the other members of Love Pop ups London whom I went with chose freedom so I was split from them but never less I am sticking to my principals and sticking within my group. I have principals after all.  I was given an orange bandanna to wear. Continue reading
