Are you looking for a sauces, chutneys or soups which contain no dairy and no eggs? then Bay’s Kitchen food is the perfect solution as not only are their sauces dairy free, but is gluten free and FODMAP friendly.

What is FODMAP though you might ask?

FODMAP stands for fermentable oligosaccharides, disaccharides, monosaccharides and polyols, which are short chain carbohydrates (sugars) that the small intestine absorbs poorly. Some people experience digestive distress after eating them.

Low-FODMAP diets can provide remarkable benefits for many people with common digestive disorders. Simply FODMAPs are types of carbohydrates found in certain foods, including wheat and beans.

Many foods that contain FODMAPs are considered very healthy and some FODMAPs function like healthy prebiotic fibers, supporting your friendly gut bacteria. Therefore, people who can tolerate these types of carbs should not avoid them.

Bay’s Kitchen produce award winning low FODMAP sauces and chutneys which is suitable for all with diet issues and for those who might be suffering with IBS. Bay’s Kitchen healthy produce is not just a healthy source to have stored in your cupboards but they are also a great way to cook some easy quick tasty meals for example with their Korma you can make a vegetarian one or if you like meat a chicken korma.

With the end of Summer looming over us and the temperature rising one final time, what’s better than a picnic in a park but a vegan one?

The best vegan picnic foods are those that are easy to eat and don’t deteriorate quickly when out of the fridge. Now all we can do is pray that the rain keeps away.

Sheese I can’t believe it’s not cheese

Vegans can now enjoy the taste of cheese which is not made from dairy but still tastes exactly like cheese thanks to artisan makers of Sheese.

Did you know? that non-dairy cheese originated from China back in the 16th century, which was made using fermented tofu or whole soy. Since then home made vegan cheese evolved and many ingredients are used such as nuts, soy milk, and soy yogurt. Around the late 90s vegan cheese became popular in the commercial field. Within the 00’s a number of different types of vegan cheeses such as mozzarella, cheddar, etc. became available.

Courtesy of Sheese via Gifta I was gifted a few packs to try out and I was highly surprised by the quality, look, texture and taste of all the cheeses.

Sheese

Back in 1988 Sheese was founded by Debs, Frans, Guy and Mark who each are intolerant to dairy products. They bring to the UK an array of award winning Scottish vegan cheeses. All of their dairy free vegan cheeses are a healthy cheese alternative, perfect for people with plant based diets and people with dietary restrictions like lactose intolerance. All are gluten, dairy, lactose & animal free, and certified Vegan & Kosher (Pareve).

Years of research, development and production was involved to bring original, traditional cheeses, from taste to texture, to our tables. Their new range of vegan cheese is made from coconut oil, and doesn’t contain Hydrogenated Fat or Palm Oil. Their soya comes from an IP Source, and is made from the best quality, clean, dehulled soybean seeds as GMO is an important issue to us, and all of their ingredients they use are sourced as non-GMO.

Aloha 65 spirit up your Christmas

This Christmas add Aloha 65 to your 65 festive tipples, ok maybe not 65 but if you are looking for a spirit which is sweet but yet fiery then this spirit is for you. Aloha 65 is made with pineapples but gives a punch of spice, ginger and scotch bonnet chilli’s.

On a courtesy basis thanks to Aloha 65 I was gifted another bottle, this time their special limited edition bottle which features a young lady skiing. This time I got a little more festive and made some of Aloha 65 wintery tipples as well as coming up with my own special Christmas creation, Rudolph’s Kiss.

Aloha 65

Stephen Thorp is the founder of Aloha 65. Aloha 65 is a complex infused spirit that is beautifully, naturally and carefully made over a month using six fresh, raw ingredients including fresh pineapple, lemon, ginger, scotch bonnet chilli and two other carefully selected herbs and spices. No colourants, flavourings or refined sugar are used in the production process. The fresh ingredients are macerated and then simply steeped lazily in a neutral grain spirit in separate containers and slowly infuse the alcohol until the flavours are just so. After a month or so, when nature has done her work, the six distillates are blended together to create the beautifully balanced finished product. Aloha 65 is all-natural, vegan and 27% ABV.

SXOLLIE single varietal cider

I am a cider drinker and I could drink it all day, and even more so now after enjoying SXOLLIE ciders as they are so delicious. They produce three single varietal ciders which means they only use one type of apple per bottle. To me cider is better than beer as cider it is much lighter than beer. Beer is made from malted barley whilst cider is made from fermented apple juice making it less gassy and easier to drink.

On a PR basis I was kindly given their variety of cider to taste at home.

SXOLLIE

Founded in 2014 Laura & Karol lovers of cider set up and pioneered their own cider company. They wanted to make cider more than your first drink of summer but your first drink of the night and any time of year.

They produce clean refreshing cider from apples we all know and love (Golden Delicious, Granny Smith & Cripps Pink) giving that taste of apples, not just the sugar as their ciders are single varietal ciders. SXOLLIE single varietal cider means only one type of apple is used per bottle.
