“On opening the menu up it was a very hard choice from such classic British delights that I have not eaten since say the 80’s highlights such as Black Forest gateau and quiche Lorraine. I was torn if to opt for a very classic prawn cocktail and chicken kiev but eventually I decided and opted for the farmhouse pate, followed by pork chop and for dessert millionaire chocolate bar.”

“The stunningly designed restaurant by Gordon Young Architects is set upon two levels under a breathtaking double height space. It is divided into zones to cater to different dining needs. You enter at the upper level through The Bar into The Dining Room, a semi-circular space framed by an impressive looking chandelier.”

“Menus swapped, and much snapping of pictures, we start to eat. I like to work my way up from the bottom. The bottom plate has a selection of finger sandwiches, comprising coronation chicken, which I love, smoked salmon and cream cheese, cucumber and dill, because it’s not afternoon tea without this, egg mayonnaise and roast beef.”

“Everything arrived promptly and at once, with everyone receiving their own tray of foods. We got the usual three tiers of food, the bottom being sandwiches, then scones above, and topped with tasty cakes to finish it off.”

“Despite it’s inspiration, the cocktail was anything but rocky, a mesmerizing fluidity of song and dance captured in a rimmed glass.”

“The Jerusalem artichoke soup however was divine! Made with chestnuts in the soup, the flavour was lovely and the texture silky smooth. The addition of the cheese straw as garnish was a nice touch to complement.”

“This place is any girly girl’s dream. So much pink and chrome with beautiful details such as the centrepiece light and the cute pink chairs to go with the marble tables.”

“One of my favourite things about the afternoon tea selection here is that there’s no need to share! Yep, you get one of these little tea towers each. There’s a selection of five different types of finger sandwich. A fruit and a plain scone with strawberry jam and clotted cream and a selection of five mini sweet treats too. That’s not all though, there’s even candy floss to top it all off.”

“The steak tartare was served with grilled sourdough for scooping and the egg on top wasn’t just a yolk; it was cooked for four hours and was more like a puree! It was pretty darn tasty.”

“Vivi is a brasserie and bar that serves classic British dishes. It’s a truly instagrammable place if ever there was one; from the moment you walk in, the the plush pink velvet chairs, right up to the toilets! This restaurant truly makes you feel special!”
