Can I lick my own face? – Candy Mechanics: Lolpops

Lolpops me and my pop

Candy Mechanics: Lolpops pop-up popped up in Covent Garden this May (25-28 May 2017).

Candy Mechanics: Lolpop has for a very limited time got a pop-up store based in Covent Garden where they are letting customers buy their face made in either white, milk or dark chocolate. So you really now can lick your face and eat it.

I was lucky enough to go along to a press night and experience the Lolpops first hand. Firstly my face gets scanned whilst I sit very still and one of the chocolate engineers go around with a scanner and scans my face from my right side, front to left side.

He then sends the images to one of the Candy Mechanics machinery where then a chocolate engineer places a slab of chocolate underneath the drill bit of the machine. The drill starts to drill out my face and from the very first few hits of the drill I could see my face, well my long pointed nose appearing through. It literally only took 5 minutes for the slab of chocolate to be transformed into a Lolpop face (mine) but the most fun part was watching my face appearing in the chocolate slab.

Now it was onto the dusting station where they neatened the edges of my Lolpop up a bit with a blade and then dusted it with gold then finally presenting it in a plastic box with the words ‘It’s Me’ on it.

From start to finish it really was a joy and a very fun unique idea. I highly recommend popping in if you are in the Covent Garden and getting your face made for a small cost.

If you don’t get time to go to the pop up you can still have your face made out of chocolate by ordering online. All you have to do is scan your face via their online site (https://candymechanics.com/lolpop/) and get sent to you via post the only thing you won’t see by doing this is your face actually being drilled out and made which I feel is one of the magical aspects. A great unique unusual idea though for any occasion.

Goodbye boring chocolate bars, the future of chocolate is most definitely at Candy Mechanics: LolPops!!
