Jimmy Garcia returns this year with a larger scale pop up The BBQ Club which is based on London’s Southbank. Him and his dedicated team are returning for 5 months this summer (20 May to end of September 2017).
The split level double-floor riverside Summer eatery which is right next to the River Thames includes a walk-up BBQ Bar and a Rooftop dining experience.
Walk-up BBQ
The walk-up BBQ has dishes from burgers to salmon all cooked on in a big green domed BBQs in which there are three. The rooftop BBQ dining has a more intimate feel with tabletop mini green domed BBQs with a ever-evolving six course tasting menu (£45) plus has great views of the River Thames and the London skyline. Guests will be able to baste and grill the dishes alongside the chef on the night before grilling on your own tabletop BBQ which is built into the centre of the table. The food on offer is seasonal so changes every so often. However always at the end of the night you will be able to finish the evening by toasting and eating some delicious melting marshmallows taking you back to your childhood. Plus there is a ‘Honesty Bar’ upstairs serving refreshing gin concoctions to great wine.
I have not yet had the pleasure to dine upstairs on the Rooftop but I have eaten from the walk-up BBQ Bar. You order your food then you are given a pager to notify you when your food it ready which took about 10-15 minutes as it is freshly cooked.
I had the Salmon salad box and my husband had a beef burger. My Salmon tasted amazing and was so moist plus just flaked apart and the salad which consisted mainly of lettuce had a wonderful tangy very yellow sauce was divine and I don’t usually eat salad but I totally finished that one. My husbands burger was thick and juicy with a lovely shiny brioche bun. He said it is one of the best burgers he has tasted in a long time apart from my homemade hamburgers that I cook. The chips though even though nice I would of preferred thicker ones rather than french frie style. Plus there is a downstairs bar to grab a drink from.
The walk-up BBQ Bar and downstairs Drinks Bar is open everyday from Monday – Sunday 11am – 11pm
The Rooftop Dining is open Monday-Friday from 7.30pm, Saturday 1pm and then again from 7.30pm and Sunday from 12pm and then again at 4pm.
So if you are in the area of Southbank or even near Southbank then I highly recommend eating at Jimmy’s BBQ Club be it for a more intimate dining experience on the rooftop (pre-book) or to grab a bite from the walk-up BBQ Bar you won’t be disappointed.
Highly recommend.
