Would you sell your soul to the Kraken? – The Kraken Screamfest The Ocean of Souls

Would you sell your soul to the Kraken?

Well I did and I am pleased that I did as I got to enter The Ocean of Souls and whilst I was in there I met an old seadog, mermaids, a fortune teller, a doctor,  discovered the Kraken and drank plenty of The Kraken Black Spiced Rum.

The Kraken Black Spiced Rum

Kraken Rum is an imported rum from the Caribbean blended with secret spices. Named for the sea beast of myth and legend, The Kraken Rum is strong, rich, black and smooth.

How Kraken Rum got it’s name

It is said that a ship carrying one of the largest quantities of black spiced rum ever to be brought over from the Caribbean islands, for unexplained reasons, never reached it’s destination. Stories were plentiful, and while an attack by the Kraken is suspected, no stories were ever confirmed.

Barrels carrying this black spiced rum drifted off the ship into the sea and the rum was renamed after the Kraken as a tribute (some say as a “sacrifice”) to this beast’s unchallengable power and might. There are few first-hand accounts of encounters with the Kraken, as most who encounter the Kraken do not live to tell the tale.

Entering into The Ocean of Souls

The Kraken Screamfest returns this year with The Ocean of Souls which took place on 25 October leading people into an underwater adventure to meet the Kraken.

The whole event was completely free and could be booked directly via the The League of Darkness website however tickets were limited and so was on a first see first book basis.

Even though I originally got my tickets via the website I also was gifted some press tickets for Love Pop Ups London community for me to bring along a few other bloggers.

Set in a secret East London location The Kraken Black Spiced Rum and Les Enfants Terribles put on a night like no other with people selling their souls to take a journey into The Ocean of Souls.

Kraken

Time to be tagged and take the journey within the depths of the Ocean

After signing a contract to sell my soul over to the Kraken a group of us all were then taken through the dark depths of the Ocean starting firstly with a ship wreck galleon.  We met an old sea dog who told us the story of the Kraken.  He then asked who would like to bear the bottle of souls and I immediately took on the quest.  So I was handed the bottle with all our souls to look after which was a great responsibility.

We was then all submerged into a world of marine-based mystery that lies fathoms under the sea where we met a Queen of the waters in which I had to hand the bottle of souls to her.

After some mystical magic and a puff of smoke from her cauldron it was time for us to drink the collaborative mix of souls.

It was then time to get a glimpse from within side the submarine of the monstrous Kraken.

Kraken love

Upon escaping the Kraken and being eventually washed up from underwater we were then transported to a large underwater bar where there was plenty going on and we even met more characters of a mermaid, a fortune teller and a doctor.

There were plenty of limited edition free Kraken cocktails to be had to tantalise our taste buds that no mortal has dared to create before.

To get the different cocktails though we had to mingle with the mermaid, fortune teller and doctor and take on missions to get gems or coins to purchase particular drinks.

I particularly loved the drink which I received from the mermaid in which I had to read a love poem to her.  In return she gave me a pearl to change at the bar for the most stunning and amazing cocktail which was served in a shell.

Plus on the night there was plenty of merchandise going for free as well at this event which was hidden in lockers near the Fortune Tellers tent.  Luckily I had an early slot so I manged to grab myself a cap, t-shirt and hoodie before they all went however people who entered within the underwater bar at a later time during the night were not so lucky as the merchandise was swept up quickly by others.

It was unfortunately time now to sail away until next year.

Bye Kraken you’ll always be part of me

This truly was a Halloween extravaganza, we sold our immortal souls to the Kraken, and sealed our fate to the mythical underwater beast.

Even though over it is one adventure I will never forgot, well I did sell my soul after all so you might as well say it is now part of my soul.

Thank you to The League of Darkness and Kraken Black Spiced Rum for the adventure.  This experience was complimentary from them but all views are my own honest opinion.
