Eat, drink and play – Social Fun and Games (SFG)

The other day I went to the launch night of Social Fun and Games (SFG) which has returned this winter to Stratford Centre, Roof East (8th floor). You will be able to relax, eat and drink in one of the cosy Igloos, drink in one of the many bars, listen and dance to music or play fun games such as Jenga or a game of curling with your friends.

I went along with some other bloggers from Love Pop Ups London and we all had such a fantastic time.

Social Fun and Games: the igloos and food

Firstly we were shown to our Igloo for the night in which we became Eskimos for the evening.  We got cosy on the benches that were covered in fur and sat around this large table with a domed light within the middle of the table.

We was then bought over some great sharing boards from Jimmy’s Lodge and Crazy Pig and all the food was delicious and warmed us up.

The sharing platters you can enjoy in the Igloo are based on 1 between 2 and are as follows:

Social Fun and Games: curling

After we had eaten we went onto play curling. There are six neon-lit, synthetic ice curling lanes in total accompanied by cool soundtracks whilst you play.

Curling is a fun game and similar to bowling in a way but the aim of this game is to get close to the middle of the target at the end of the lane rather than knocking down pins. It is easy to pick up and learn.

This was the first time for all of us and it was really easy to pick up. It was just a matter of sliding the curling stone with the correct speed and pace to get it nearest to the centre of the target (minus broom on this one as not set on ice).  We played many games between each other and we all played pretty well considering it was all our first time.

Tickets cost £10 per person and you will get a lane for 40 minutes.

Extra tips
Don’t worry if it’s your first time curling – we will have helpers on hand to show you the ropes.

Social Fun and Games: the bars

Fancy a drink after all that curling well there are many bar areas to choose from with the covered bar area being the main hub. The main bar is set on a 80’s inspired après-ski lodge. It is a great way to get away from the coldness of the night and sit back on the bench of one of the picnic tables and enjoy the many drinks on offer from such as warm mulled cider or a cocktail and see one of the amazing flairers creating it.  Prices for drinks start from £4.50 to £39.  To see the full drinks menu click here. Inside there are some dressed mannequin’s that are wearing ski outfits so why not get a selfie for a laugh. My selfie is a bit blurred but I had by this stage had quite a few mulled cider I must admit.

There is even a Jenga games on each table that you can play with your friends will you be the one to have all the bricks tumbling down?

Unfortunately I ended and lost the game as I was the one that made the tower collapse, crash bang wallop!

Within the bar area there is also a human jukebox Michael ‘Pianoman’ Moore who makes special appearances and takes requests to rock the lodge with classic sounds of rock & roll and soul or anything that you like (if the knows it). I gave him a few song choices from Space but alas he did not know them.

Alternatively when Michael is not around there is a retro free play jukebox with various music from classic rock & roll to soul to choose from.
