Silent Disco time – Madame Tussauds

Ever wanted to get snapped with a celeb you idolise and dance with them?

Well at Madame Tussauds silent disco event you can do just that as they are a wax work museum.  They are situated in Baker Street and have life-size wax replicas of celebrities and historic icons over many themed galleries.

Madame Tussauds

Before I tell you about the time I partied with many celebs and fellow other partiers I will tell you a little more about this unique museum.

Millions and millions of people have flocked through the doors of Madame Tussauds since they first opened over 200 years ago and it remains just as popular as it ever was. There are many reasons for this enduring success, but at the heart of it all is good, old-fashioned curiosity.

There are over 250 life like wax figures on display throughout Madame Tussauds which you can take many selfies with.

You can learn historical facts from wax works such as Henry VIII or even learn more about politicians of our time like Donald Trump.  So it is a great way to teach your children rather than a book.

Did you know that each waxwork takes around four months to create and cost £150,000.

Every single detail is carefully recorded from exact eye colour to their tattoos and beauty marks whilst actual human hair is individually inserted into the wax including the eyebrows and eyelashes.

You can take a spirit of London ride which takes you on a journey over 400 years of history of London in a mini taxi.

Not only is there wax works but you can watch a 4D Marvel Super Heroes movie where you will experience a shaking floor, smoke and water during this film.

Let’s party like a celeb

This time I was not attending Madame Tussauds to mingle with such likes of Henry VIII and the Queen but I was here to party with Hollywood and Bollywood starts as I was attending an evening to attend one of their special adult night events of a silent disco.

So Arnold Schwarzenegger here I come.

With this being my first silent disco I was dead excited.

Usually you get to explore many multiple floors over Madame Tussauds which you self-guide yourself through allowing you time to explore each of the themed rooms within the attraction at your own pace however at this was a special pop up event we was only allowed in the Party Room  where big named Hollywood and Bollywood stars reside.  That did not matter though as I have visited Madame Tussauds before but at least I could still go and check out Arnold my favourite actor and one in whom I love.

So once I checked in my coat and bag and given my headphones for the night it was time to party!

First person I met was Marilyn Monroe back from the dead. She was one of the entertainers hired for the night.

As this was a special pop up it was encouraged that you came dressed as your favourite celebrity (dead or alive).  So upon entering the Party Room I did not just encounter, dance and rub shoulders and strike selfie poses with many wax work versions of Hollywood movie stars such as Nicole Kidman, Tom Cruise, Brad Pitt etc. but I got to dance with friends and fellow partiers who had dressed as their favourite celeb or Halloween ghoul for the night.

However the ultimate moment for me though was getting to rub my hands over Arnold’s chest.

As some of you may not know I have a thing for bald headed men, so watch out if you are bald and muscular.

The beauty with a silent disco unlike a nightclub is that you can switch and select from a range of different genre of tunes from pop to rock just by switching the switch on the right side of the headphone and adjust the volume via the other.  So I flicked in and out between the different genres throughout the night at one point dancing to tunes from the Spice Girls through to tunes by Alice Cooper.

There was a DJ for each different channel as well keeping on top of things.

It was funny to see everyone dancing to different tunes and trying to work out which channel they might be listening to.

Later on in the night my magician friend popped on in to entertain my friends.

So you could say there was a real celeb in the house as Brendan Rodrigues is an award winning magician and has appeared on The Next Greatest Magician as well as commercials on TV promoting various brands from perfumes to drinks.

The night was now near the end and it was time to hang up my dancing shoes and head off home.

Verdict

I would highly recommend Madame Tussauds if you have ever wanted to be snapped with a certain celeb but know that in real life you may never get that chance as you can take many selfies with many famous people throughout this unique museum.

I loved the partying with the stars and others during the evening but I do highly recommend to anyone to add Madame Tussauds to your list to visit when in London as it’s well worth a visit – just remember to bring your camera.

Beauty is you can come away from Madame Tussauds, brag and show your friends and family photos of celebs that you got snapped with like Brad Pitt and even though you know they were a wax work, they don’t need to know that, ‘wink’?

Tips

Book tickets in advance and save.  If you are travelling by train you can take advantage of the National Rail 2 for 1 ticket offer or take advantage of your Tesco or Nectar reward points for tickets.

Go late afternoon to avoid queues.

If going in the morning I highly recommend a fast track ticket to skip the long queues.

It takes about three hours to fully explore all of the exhibits, so plan your day accordingly.

I went on a complimentary experience courtesy of Timeout Tastemakers community group.  All views are my own honest opinion.
