A look back at April 2018 – Community Fun

This article is a look back at the amazing experiences which various community members of Love Pop Ups London enjoyed and helped spread the word about during April 2018.

April 2018 a look back

Escape Plan: The Adventure Begins

Escape Plan is set in Shoreditch and is a fun challenging game based on a P.O.W. camp.  Some members from Love Pop Ups London (LPUL) had the opportunity to play the game. Upon entering into the barracks of a P.O.W camp they discovered the legend of Bob Hails whom is the only prisoner to have successfully escaped the camp. He had kindly left his journal though to help LPUL team evade the enemy and escape. They had what it takes to break out to freedom with a time of 14:23.

Questions is though would you have what it takes to earn your freedom?

At present Escape Plan has a special 10% discount. Use code: TAB10 (excludes weekends).

Escape Plan: An Adventure Begins

“puzzles were logically arranged and the diary gave us everything we needed to know what to do. There are so many things to find and work out, we definitely were kept busy!”

GoBoat

GoBoat London is situated in Paddington and is the only self-drive, powered boating experience in central London. I along with other members of Love Pop Ups London have had the opportunity on a numerous of occasions to be captain and sail down the canals of London.

GoBoat is powered by electric engines so no rowing required.  Each GoBoat can carry up to eight people. All boats have a long table so you can enjoy a picnic on-board whilst sailing down the canals of London creating a very fun and sociable atmosphere. There boats serve as a breathing space in the city away from the hustle and bustle of busy London.  GoBoat is certainly the perfect experience for any social occasion.

“Looking for an alternative to hanging out at the park on a sunny day?
Then GoBoat is your answer!”

PediBus

PediBus is a great fun alternate way to experience London with friends.  A group of us got to cycle together across London over many bridges and capturing great sights of London such as Borough Market, Blackfriars Bridge, The Bank of England and The Monument whilst drinking all at the same time.

To ride a PediBus it costs £25-£30 per person for any group size. A PediBus holds 12 people in total which involves 8 cycling and 4 people standing in the VIP standing area.

“The PediBus is a super fun experience where you can take in the sights of London with your friends while getting fit. It’s quite hard work, as you have to pedal up banks and keep up with the traffic. I must admit, I took a relaxed approach and was on of the VIPs who stood up, taking pictures and dancing.”

An Evening of Meat

An Evening of Meat is a highly powerful evening of dance and femininity served alongside with a 6 courses fine dining feast.  Me and some others of Love Pop Ups London dined at this unique dinner installation which drew our innermost contradictions as we become part of each performer’s journey.

This is showing in the Vaults in London until 2 June and costs just £35.

An Evening of Meat us

“The night went like this: meat served to you, you’re given some time to eat, and then the music was turned up, and the women perform what looked like ritual ceremonies set to the techno/trip hop beats”

Miss Nigthingale at the Hippodrome

Matthew Bugg’s Miss Nightingale musical returns to London once again this year but this time at London’s famous casino the Hippodrome.

I went along with some other community members and we got to experience a very saucy war time British musical. The show is set within 1942 and is about gay glamour, cabaret, vintage sounds and the blitz which is all put sensationally to life.

Love this sound of this then book now your cabaret seating for an unrivalled West End experience unlike any other but be quick as their last performance is on 6 May.

You will come out singing with tunes like “Got to get your sausage where you can” and when “I’ve trapped by pussy in the door”.

“The highlight of Miss Nightingale is undoubtedly the many musical numbers. The small but extremely talented cast not only sing the songs beautifully but also play the accompanying musical instruments during each others performances. There is even a short tap-dancing number at one point. Is there anything these actors cant do!?”

The Grand: Little Shop of Horrors

The Grand lay on many different events throughout the year from Bingo to dance.  Me and some others of Love Pop Ups London had the privilege of attending one of their film nights.  We got to watch and sign along to the classic movie Little Shop of Horrors. It is encouraged to dress up as one of the characters but you don’t have to.  On the night we got our photo taken in their famous photo booth with Audrey II (the plant), ate unlimited popcorn, ate hot dogs, drank themed cocktails, played games, competed in competitions and partied the night away afterwards to music played by a DJ.

“If you are coming for a movie, or a night out at the club, be prepared to have the best night out ever!! With fun competitions and drinks as prizes for best dress and a dancing competition.. The competitiveness will sure come out of anyone who dares enter!”

If you love tropical tunes, love brunch and love Caribbean food then you will love Reggae Brunch which brings a refreshing experience. Some community members got to experience and enjoy unlimited rum punch before feasting on a 3-course meal from Cottons and enjoying tunes spun out by their DJ such as Reggae, Soca, Calypso, Reggaeton, Bashment, Afro, Soul, Ska & Commercial hits.

Reggae Brunch happens on numerous dates throughout the year so make sure to check out their website for more information.
