A look back at March 2019 – Community fun

This article is a look back at the amazing experiences which various community members of Love Pop Ups London enjoyed and helped spread the word about during March 2019 on complimentary basis.

March 2019 a look back

Las Banderas

Located in the heart of Soho, Las Banderas provides diners fantastic Latin food and wine. They offer their diners a delicious choice of jamón & tapas, fabulous wines & cocktails and beers to match.

Great for anyone looking for tapas style brunch.

“Now the thing about this bottomless brunch, is that you really need to take advantage of the bottomless aspect, to get good value. However, the really great thing is that they have quite a few drinks options included in this: Bloody Mary, Sangria, and Cava, as well as non-alcoholic options of orange juice, tea, and coffee. I definitely prefer this, to being stuck with one kind of drink the whole time, like some bottomless brunches do. I also like, as someone that doesn’t drink very much, that there were multiple non-alcoholic options. We were even allowed to have two different drinks at the same time!”

The Big London Bake

Ever wanted to know what it might be like to participate in The Great British BakeOff well know you can. As at The Big London Bake you can cook and compete against others without the pressure of Mary Berry or Paul Hollywood.

Each baker will be provided with all the key ingredients for the ultimate baking extravaganza which lasts 90 minutes. Whisking, rolling, drizzling, customising, creating will you be crowned the winner of The Big London Bake.

Certain nights throughout the year The Big London Bake turns matchmaker providing exclusive speed dating nights for singletons aged 25 to 35. Learning skills from the same brilliant head bakers, in the same fantastic tent in Tooting, but with added love on certain nights.

Question is will you come leaving with a soggy bottom or a date?

“It’s the perfect event for girls night but would also make a really cute date night! They actually even have a ‘First Bakes’ event which is speed dating, mixed with baking. There’s a head chef and a professional matchmaker on hand to make sure both aspects of your evening run smoothly which will definitely result in a great first date story to tell the grandkids about should it go well!”

Cahoots

Cahoots is a secret bar which is set underground in Soho. Guests are transported back in time to post-war 1940s within a disused underground tube station, where there is dazzling cocktails flowing, swing dancing happening and many sing-alongs all around an old piano.

However apart from drinking you can always go along and enjoy a Squiffy Picnic in the afternoon in Cahoots or a Cupcake afternoon.

Cahoots Squiffy Picnic Joanne and Steve

“The lunch ended with the best Victorian sponge cake I’ve eaten. It was so good that I want to return just for that. The cake was light as air and soft just like a sponge (now I get the name).  What a perfect way to end an amazing time.”

Ashers Supper Club

Ashers is a vegan supper club who hold various supper clubs throughout the year.

“I love trying out different foods and I think that Asher’s supper club did things right by making great dishes, and not focusing on trying to fake meats. Besides the tofu, I would gladly order any of these without even thinking about them being vegan or not, and I think that’s the way things should be. I’m excited to see what else Asher comes up with next with his great sense of flavours, creativity with ingredients and passion for making beautiful food.”

“With a splat here, brush there and dollop here my painting was complete after just two hours. I had a piece of art worthy of hanging up on my wall at home, OK maybe not quite!

However thankfully free-styling was encouraged during the class so to try and rectify my epic fail of a painting I added some butterflies and other insects to my art work which made me feel a lot better about the picture.”
