Carn’s Kulfi creamy delight

I love ice cream but surprisingly I have never had Kulfi’s before so when I was gifted an assorted box of Carn’s Kulfi I just had to try and wow I was surprised by the texture and taste. So creamy a real delight.

Carn’s Kulfi

Nasser Khan set up Carn’s Kulfi in 2002 and since then has been selling handmade Kulfi’s which are all made from using an old closely guarded family recipe which has been passed down from generation to generation.

What makes Kulfi’s different to ice cream though? The main difference between ice cream and Kulfi is the texture, and taste. Kulfi is creamier than ice cream as it is usually made by reducing the volume of full cream milk nearly one third to what was its original volume.

Makan Malaysia enjoy a taste of Malaysia at home

My first ever taste of Malaysian food was back in January this year with Makan Malaysia at one of their supperclubs which they usually hold throughout the year. Kat and Sue who run the Makan Malaysian certainly did surprise me dish after dish that night and certainly did convert me in loving Malaysian food.

However due to Covid-19 they can no longer pop up for a while with one of their amazing supperclubs so at present they are offering a home delivery option so you can enjoy Malaysian food which has been precooked by them within your own home, all that is required is to warm it up at home.

As being a converted fan of Malaysian food and having attended Kat and Sue’s supperclub before earlier in the year they kindly gifted me one of their Makan Besar Bundles to enjoy at home during these hard times.

Makan Malaysia

Makan Malaysia is jointly run by Kat and Sue, who are childhood friends and share a shared passion for food and cooking.

Originally both from Malaysia, they have made the UK their home and share their culinary expertise by organising intimate supper clubs, pop-up dinners, online shops and catering for themed weddings and events.

Loxwood Meadworks Pure Mead Honey sweet as can be

Forget wine made from grapes indulge in a glass of Loxwood Meadworks Pure Mead which is made from 100% honey.

I was gifted a bottle of Loxwood Meadworks on a complimentary basis to tantalise my taste buds and for my honest opinion.

Loxwood MeadWorks

Danny the founder of Loxwood Meadworks sold Mead for The Loxwood Joust which is a medieval festival which he runs. During his festivals he noticed how much people loved it, and wondered why no one seems to drink Mead anymore? So with that he bought it back but in a modern way to sell.

Starting from scratch he experimented, tasted, and got designing to create a signature Pure Mead which you see today.

It’s fermented dry, and then back-sweetened with honey, to give the most natural flavour and a delicate sweetness.

Unlike other Mead’s you may have tried before, their Pure Mead is created using 100% honey, fermented dry, and then back-sweetened with honey, giving the most natural flavour and a delicate sweetness.

Sweet as can be

I can’t drink wine as of the fermented grapes used within wines, so when I heard about Loxwood Meadworks Pure Mead which is an alternative version but made out of 100% honey instead.

Sorsa Kombucha brewing – Organic, Raw & Low Sugar Drink‎

Do you love tea? Then did you know that tea especially green tea, is often said to be good for your health as it contains substances which are linked to lowering the risk of heart disease, cancer, and diabetes. However though moderate intake is recommended as drinking too much could lead to negative side effects, such as anxiety, headaches, digestive issues, and disrupted sleep patterns.

Kombucha is a fermented, slightly alcoholic, lightly effervescent, sweetened black or green tea drink which is commonly consumed for its supposed health benefits.

Lately there has been a major surge in popularity, for Kombucha even though it has been around for thousands of years. It is essentially a sweetened tea which is fermented with the help of a SCOBY. SCOBY is an acronym, which stands for Symbiotic Culture Of Bacteria and Yeast. It’s an odd looking thing bit like a flat slippery rubbery pancake but it’s the essential ingredient in making Kombucha. Its flavours can range from a vinegary to a sweet champagne like taste according to the brew and fermentation.

But what makes Kombucha better than other tea? Well Kombucha has many great health benefits and is rich in beneficial probiotics and contains antioxidants, and can kill harmful bacteria and may help fight several diseases.

It is said to be healthy for your gut health, it reduces the risk of cancer, reduced infection, helps with mental health, heart disease, helps with weight loss, improve liver health, and helps with type 2 diabetes management.

So when I was gifted a brewing kit to brew my own Kombucha courtesy of Sorsa I just had to take up the challenge in brewing.

Sorsa Kombucha

Sophia love for nature and the environment pushed her to start Sorsa Kombucha with the hope of bringing all her customers delicious naturally fizzy drink.
